Gamestop Guaranteed to Love It policy offers full refunds

GameStop ‘Guaranteed to Love It’ program will offer full refund on new games

GameStop is now offering its customers full refunds on new games with the new GameStop “Guaranteed to Love it” program. Starting later this month, customers will have 48 hours to return a new game if they don’t like it and will receive a full refund in the form of trade-in credit. This new program is no doubt in response to GameStop posting a $673 million financial loss in 2018, due to more and more gamers buying their games online. Hopefully the GameStop “Guaranteed to Love It” program will help turn the financial tides for one of the few remaining physical video game retailers.

How does the GameStop “Guaranteed to Love It” program work?

First reported by Cheap Ass Gamer, the GameStop “Guaranteed to Love It” program will essentially allow players to have a 48 hour trial period with a new game before deciding if they want to keep it or return it. Now, instead of buying a new game and having to trade it back in for significantly less than they bought it for, players can trade it back in within 48 hours and receive a full refund in store credit. This will allow players to get a different game, or simply save the refund for later. The first game eligible for the “Guaranteed to Love It” program will be Days Gone, which will release later this month on April 26.

There is, however, a small amount of fine print regarding the GameStop “Guaranteed to Love It” program. The program will only apply to the Standard Edition of a game; the assumption is that players likely won’t be buying anything besides this if they are unsure that they are going to like the game. Additionally, customers must come in with their receipt if they wish to exchange the game for a full refund, and the store credit cannot exceed $59.99, which means there will be no refund on tax.

All in all, the GameStop “Guaranteed to Love It” program sounds like a move in the right direction. It allows players to test out a new game with the comfort of knowing they can get their money back if they don’t like it. It is a win for gamers, and there’s no doubt that GameStop hopes it will be a win for the company.
