The perils of the Hype Train…

The recent release of Evolve and The Order 1886 really got me to thinking about the disparity between the perspective of sales-driven publishers and the quality-driven purchases of consumers. The “Hype Train” is nothing new, but the way it is utilized has been creating far more...

So I've loaded Jedi Outcast onto my Windows 7 rig, which is connected to my HDTV, and I am having a ridiculous problem. When I play in windowed mode, it looks fine:

But when I switch to full-screen mode, I see this stretched out over my HDTV:

I can use the lightsaber mouse pointer to select the options that are beyond the right and bottom edges of the screen, so it isn't that the rest of the image isn't being rendered. It's just not being displayed properly. And I have no idea why. I've been playing with the in-game video settings for two days now, and have tried messing around with the nVidia driver settings, and nothing helps.

Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried using the latest update?

http://www.moddb.com/games/star-wars-jedi-knight-ii/downloads/jk2-104-patch

I know, the patch just fixes ATI graphic problems but maybe it can help with a Nvdia card too.

Edit: ooops! you meant outcast and not any of the other games, right?

You tried changing the resolution through the settings when it's fullscreen'd? If it's not working you could try finding a config file and manually changing the resolution to 800x600/1024x768 and seeing if it works.

Overwise it might be time to see if there's a community/unofficial patch or try the on-board intel or a cheap AMD card to see if it's nvidia specific.

What happens if you use alt+enter when it's windowed?

Jedi Outcast is such a good game.

Have you resolved the issue yet, ShadeTail?

I might download Jedi Outcast this weekend (I have it on Steam, just haven't downloaded it yet) and see if I have any similar issues.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I figured it out. Because I have my gaming PC connected to my HDTV, I have the display settings make everything larger so that I can see the desktop from my couch 10 feet away. For every other PC game I have, that made no difference. Jedi Outcast, however, was blown up to 150% size just like everything on the desktop.

*sigh*

When I manually switched the display setting back to 100% size, Jedi Outcast started looking proper again.
