Nintendo E3 2019 plans revealed, Nintendo Direct date and time announced

The Nintendo E3 2019 schedule has been revealed, with the company’s plans for the event having been officially announced. Nintendo will be present at the event for a special E3 2019 Nintendo Direct, its annual Treehouse: Live show, along with the Smash Bros Ultimate and Splatoon 2 World Championships.

Nintendo has refrained from hosting a traditional E3 press conference for many years now, with the company instead streaming special Nintendo Direct presentations. Last year, the company used its E3 2018 Nintendo Direct to spotlight the upcoming Smash Bros Ultimate. It’s unclear if the company plans to focus on one specific game during E3 2019, or if the Direct will feature more quickfire announcements similar to recent Direct presentations.

The Nintendo E3 2019 schedule is as follows:

  • June 8, 11 AM PT: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship 2019 3v3 and the Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019 tournaments.
  • June 11, 9 AM PT: Nintendo Direct E3 2019.
  • TBC: Nintendo Treehouse: Live.

Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser, who took over the role from Reggie Fils-Aime earlier this week, described the company’s plan for this year’s E3.

“We’re starting with some heated competitions and delivering new content the whole week,” Bowser said. “Whether people are attending the show in person or watching from home, our goal is to provide them with the best possible Nintendo experience.”

This will be Bowser’s first E3 as president of Nintendo, so all eyes will be on him as the company looks to continue the tremendous momentum of the Switch. Reggie Fils-Aime was a big presence at E3 and was beloved by Nintendo fans, so this will be an important event for Bowser to establish himself as the new public face of the company.

With huge games such as Pokemon Sword and Shield and Animal Crossing set to release on the Switch later this year, viewers should expect to receive an influx of new information surrounding the two upcoming games. Nintendo could also shed some more light on Metroid Prime 4which is now in the hands of Retro Studios due to issues with its previous development team, . Fans will have to tune in during E3 week to find out what the company has up its sleeve.
