So much more than war...
By shandog137
Posted on 04/18/14
The recent blog, Peace in the Era of Call of Duty  really made me think about war games that dig deeper than simply a kill streak reward. The first game that came to mind was Spec-Ops: The Line and although I haven’t played it, I began to wonder if it did the war genre as...

This ones called Ever Blue, i wrote it last year.

Ever Blue

I feel like a zombie in the snow

My body wants to move but the ice wont let me go

And the ice is like my mind

Keeping everything inside

Stopping me from seeing people so I give up and I hide.

I feel like a sitcom thats run its last episode

Like there's no one there beside me as I go down this road

And the TV that Im running on is only black and white

The people that Im working with, all they do is fight

Stopping me from seeing people so I give up and I hide

Ive fallen faster, quicker down into the make believe

And no matter what I do it seems that I can never leave

So I make up my excuses, dont know what else I can do

Mind and body showing color and its ever darkest blue

Stopping me from seeing people

No not even you

Zanker.... Figures.

Here's the link, it's now up and running..
http://www.myspace.com/theminorityistightt No offense meant, and this is not an effort. I'd rather not get a lot of s*** for this, just messing around, and not really trying. By the way I'm the first one rapping in both of the songs if you wanted to know which one I am.

Just listened to those raps, I can see why someone might be offended but I won't give you crap for it. I found it kind of funny. It's creative! Smile

Well. I've decided to post up my ten comics so far for my hopeful web comic, but I'm just going to throw this warning up.

There is coarse language, and there is offensive humour and at times, a bit of graphic material (e.g cartoon gore). This is not meant to offend anyone at all, it is just humour, satire etc. For fun, basically. So if anyone is offended or feels I should take down any of the comics, then I shall do so.

Okay, so I present you my hopeful web comic, "n3rdc0r3"

n3rdc0r3 01 - I Disagree (contains coarse language)

n3rdc0r3 02 - Defying Physics

n3rdc0r3 03 - The Unspeakable

n3rdc0r3 04 - Waterworks (contains coarse language)

n3rdc0r3 05 - Genetic Projection

n3rdc0r3 06 - Dark Side (contains coarse language)

n3rdc0r3 07 - Get It? (contains graphic/cartoon gore)

n3rdc0r3 08 - Still Alive (contains minor coarse language)

n3rdc0r3 09 - I Love Me Some A.I

n3rdc0r3 10 - If Only

I hope you like my web comics - if they offend anyone or if I am violating any rules or anything by uploading these, please let me know ASAP so I can remove them, and hopefully not get into any trouble. I hope you like them - what do you think? Razz

[Edit] Well.. that's embarrassing.. just realised in the tenth comic, the font is wrong in the second panel. >_<

Thanks man! I appreciate the kind words, I'm glad you like them. Smile

I'm a huge fan of Penny Arcade and it's of course a massive inspiration and influence for my works. The dialog, the style. I don't want to seem like I am ripping them off, because I feel I'm not. I also want to try my hand at web comics of the gaming and popular culture genre, but Penny Arcade have set the bar awfully high.. which isn't a bad thing, it just shows how far they've come, how much they've accomplished and how great they've become, which is really inspiring me to me. Dude... that was a valiant effort. In all honesty it's already better than GU comics and CTRL+ALT+DLT. Relax man, that's hardly inappropriate. Just take a look at any sodomy filled topics on the front page.

You're quite talented, I say, Mr. Brown. No exaggeration. I really enjoyed those. Comedy is hard to pull off, but you did it well. I too was reminded of Penny Arcade. The artwork was similar.

Ah, Uver. I made this topic with you and Mala in the back of my mind (along with me just being generally interested in the subject of art). So with that, I must say, Ever Blue was pretty cool. For rizzle. I never say "for rizzle," so you should feel really validated.
Do you write lyrics? I swear, if I knew how to play an acoustic guitar, I could make that into a cool folk song.
Good golly gee, I love this topic. Very Happy

Once again, I'll post some stuff later...

When I'm not working hard at getting you guys cheats and reviews I play in a little band called Apple Pie Hopes (I know I've plugged us here before).
Soon I'll have a piratical music video to share with you all, but in the meantime there's some clips from our (also) soon to be released live DVD and a couple of songs from our first CD up on our myspace:

www.myspace.com/applepiehopes

CDs are available on www.CDbaby.com as well as iTunes and other random mp3 sites.
We are available for Weddings, Parties, Bar Mitzvahs or Corporate events.

Some of my older work can be found on myspace as well:

www.myspace.com/thekingpenguinquartet

If you haven't heard any of it before, I hope you dig it. Dig it?

Im always nervous about that people wont take me seriously when i start off talking about a zombie. So thank you Very Happy
And im not very good, my lyrics always sound, well, odd after i write them, but heres one unedited i wrote yesterday

will this be another one of those nights?
will i sit here a remember of when eyes lost all light?
drowned out in the flood
tears leading way for the blood
and everywhere you look theres another helpless face
try to hang your head, think you live with not disgrace

but the times are over
the rough youve been through
and the wait is over
brace yourself, charge, breakthrough

and then you feel your lungs catch your breath
and its almost as if youd come within an inch of death
and your body feels warmer and the lights seem brighter
and you can yourself smile as the memory falls farther
forget about the hopelessness, the hate you hold inside
embrace your heart, never give up and hide
cause youll forget the world you suddenly found outside

but the times are over
the rough youve been through
and the wait is over
brace yourself, charge, breakthrough

Ha ha! Thanks, Rakon (and the others - Flaming_Tiki_God and crazycracker22) for the great, kind and encouraging words. I appreciate it a lot. Very Happy

I listened to the songs by Blake_Morse, they're really good, I particularly like the first and second songs. The first song really made me laugh, "Permission to board!", "Walk the plank!" - oh that's great. I love comedy in music. Smile

I also read the lyrics/poetry by Uver. I don't want to sound weird but honestly, those lyrics kind of got to me (I mean that as a compliment Razz), it made me think back on the last few months, with the issues that have been happening involving myself and a friend of mine. >_<

Great lyrics and music guys! Very Happy

Also thanks again to those who enjoy my works. Smile

So Uver, do you play an instrument? Sing?

Anyway, now it's time to man up and post some stuff. Here's a set of poems I hastily wrote a little over a month ago. It's about artistry as I see it, and how the concept relates to me. It depicts the artist in three different stages. Anyway, it's very appropriate to this topic. The whole set I like to call "Art Recycled"
Sorry, it's long. It just seems like an injustice to separate them.
I'm a bit intimidated by everyone here, but enough rambling...

Art Recycled

I. The Artist/The Dream

And one day on lifeless soil you will stand
In a world of logic and dust
And the Sun will have disappeared in a cloud of sand
And your spine a rigid rust

Then one moment, the land will rise beneath your feet
In one grand, cataclysmic quake
And you will find yourself on a green mountain peak
And all the flora will finally wake

It's the first week again, the world naked and new
In a grand blossom of life
And in the eve of Creation, your feet and the soil will fuse
And all meaning will be revived

From such great heights, every shadow is yours.
Every cell, every sea
And atop this green mountain peak, you can dig for
Perhaps just a speck of peace

And your roots tap into the ground you used to tread
And convoke some hidden memory
Messages from the Earth once thought lost and dead
Reemerged, purified, and free

Up through phloem and xylem with every bit of force
Mastery, effort, and care
You will give the grand inner push with no remorse
And become just a vessel, bare

And in a blinding aura floats a piece of the world's soul
Only from this summoning comes magic
And for even just fleeting moments, The Sun you will hold
And you will have given the greatest gift.

And one day you will find yourself on a green mountain peak
And all the world will lean in gravity towards your trophy
One day you will find yourself on a green mountain peak
With a boombox, a microphone, and some good batteries

II. The Last Flower of Its Kind/The Whore

Somewhere in the remains of Central Park
At passive equilibrium with the world
Is the one left out of the Arc
And I can faintly hear a beat
So somewhere here is a heart
And somewhere there's the same dream
To stand atop a mountain peak
To glow, give, release, and spawn
But it's here standing withered and nude
In the streets of New York City
And whoever passes by, plucks another fruit
The last flower of its kind
No seeds they ever withdrew
Would find the soil in time
For the fruit was already past prime
And the root's grasp was gone
But just to relive the day when the magic appeared
It will give all, for that's all it knows
Still somehow, there's always something here
For you to effortlessly take away
And the memories of peace leave the atmosphere
The more it gives, the more it sways
And as you pluck, You can faintly hear it say,
"I...I...I wan-"

III. The Devil/The Messiah

When I read your letter, I felt inspired. I watched the embers in my heart ignite, and in the flames everything changed. My vision became so clear and bright. This wasn’t the plan, but now I understand how the Sun remains.

My God is here…

And here comes the next day, and I will await the time you’ll wipe the gaps away and bring forth a new age. You’re my messiah, and I’m no denier. Bring me the fire, and give me the page. Is this Lunacy? Is this Jealousy? Is this Desire or Satan within me? And on the Judgment Day, I will wait and stay because now I know what I need.

My God is here
And I will become.
My God is here
And I will become.

Wow FTG. thats really really good.
Honestly, thats some of the best writing Ive seen in a long time.

And yeah, Master Craig, my writings tend to be a wee bit darker than some you'll find. Ive been through quite a bit with family problems and Ive only broken through depression this year. Last year i wrote a poem so sad, yet so true, that it made my teacher and other students cry.
