Achievement Whores Anonymous.

Hi, I'm Ian. *hi, Ian.* and I'm an achievement whore. Like, really. I like achievements a lot. People make jokes that I beat off to achievements (i do NOT.) And that's my story.

Is anyone else an achievement whore? By definition (urbandictionary), an achievement whore is:
Person who acquires XBOX 360 console games for the soul purpose of getting all of the achievements for that game to gain gamerscore.

Anyone else fit the bill here except me? I mean, I'm not solely out for gamerscore, like the definition says, but it definitely plays a part in whether I'll get a game or not.

I love getting achievements and raising my gamerscore, but they won't affect my descision to get a game or not. I'll buy games for the game itself.

I whore achievements big time. I dont deem a game complete without 100% its achievements. In a game like RE5, I'll complete the game first then achievement hunt like a b****. If an RPG came up, I'd check the achievements before I even started playing.

You know what's keeping me away from Halo 3 100%?...f****** 1600 Microsoft points - rip off. And thanks to achievements I'm actually considering buying the new map packs.

I need help completing Halo 3 on Legendary! 4way of this WOULD be legendary. I also need help doing the achievement "The Works" (get a maximum chain of combos) for RE5.

I'm not so much achievement whore so much as I am a completionist. I've never bought a game thinking 'Oooooooh, gamerscore!' But the games I do get I usually try my best to scrub thoroughly. But if a game is just stupid boring (Gears 2), I pat myself on the back for not even trying to get it's achievements.

So I'm a moral completionist.

A gamerscore gives me a sense of accomplishment on what I have done, but I don't think I am a GS whore for the reason that I play the game to enjoy it, the GS points are just an added bonus.

I'm not really an achievement whore. I mean I like getting the achievements. It makes me feel like I've done a bit more than sit around for an hour pushing buttons. But as my tiny gamerscore will tell you, I don't really try too hard for achievements most of the time.

I'm the same as TL. I like getting the little pop-up saying "Achievement Unlocked" but check my gamerscore. I've had my 360 since November 2005 and I only JUST got it above 10,000

Oh, and Matt, sure for Halo. I've been looking for a co-op partner for forever. My mic's broken, though, so you've gotta watch for hand signals.

Oh, and for you whores, have you ever bought a really shitty game just to get all the achievements? (example: Avatar TBE.) I personally would never do that, as it's a portion of game too, but I don't wanna get Chromehounds or something because I know I'm never gonna get even 50% of the achievements for it.

The only time I really felt like an achievement whore is when I bought Avatar from Blockbuster during a bogo deal and was planning on selling them to Gamestop for credit when they had a get and extra $10 when you trade in 2 games. I popped in the game and got the 1000 gamerscore. I actually blogged about it on here.

Currently at 18587 gamerscore. Blast you Luxor 2 for giving me an odd number.

hey um.... question... can you use the "gold" from xbox achievements for anything or is it just a way of keeping score?

What "gold" are you talking about?
Xbox Live "Gold" is the premium subscription for Xbox Live. It gives you the abililty to interact with other players around the world by chatting, playing a game, etc.

If you have the Xbox Live silver, it's free but you don't get the abilities of Xbox Live Gold.

So again, what "gold" are you talking about...wait a second, it was posted by insectavamour that's why.

Insect, it's not called "gold". He answered legitimately. Gold is the subscription you pay for to use Xbox Live. And no, gamerscore isn't worth anything to me besides enlarging my massive e-peen.
