Yes! I saw several stories on news.google.com this morning and I was excited that we can be as cool as XBL soon.

But that CD to run it crap better be a joke.

No, it isn't. They'll send the CD out to you, you install the software as far as I know and then you can be done with it I think.

You're wrong...but don't worry we can still be friends.

To access the Netflix streaming service, PlayStation 3 users will have to pop in a Blu-ray disc that Netflix will mail out. The disc will access the Internet and activate the Netflix system so people can find movies to stream.

PlayStation 3 users will be required to boot up the service from a Netflix Blu-ray disc, which utilizes BD-Live to access the online content. BD-Live is a Blu-ray standard which lets a disc have downloadable bonus content instead of limiting it to content burned onto the disc.

Well that's mildly irritating and annoying.

This gives me a raging erection....the only thing is, I don't have the best internet (3 mb down, 1 up....i think). I can play most games online and such without too much trouble, but streaming a damn blu-ray movie just seems like it might be too much for it. It stutters and hesitates when I download low quality porn, I just don't see it handling a blu-ray movie well. Any thoughts?

You aren't downloading a blu-ray movie. You're streaming DVD quality content and depending on which title it is, HD content. Netflix will adjust the image quality based on your connection.

I just received my disc and checked it out. A brief rundown of what I noticed:

Pros:
No need to input my email and netflix password, which is nice since I have no keyboard for my PS3.
Video image quality is great. The HDMI cable on my PS3 makes viewing slightly more enjoyable over my 360s component cables.
The interface is nice and sleek and there's lots of suggestions and genres to browse through, much like on the X-Box 360.

Cons:
The menu felt a little clunky and sluggish when browsing through titles.
Images took a while to load on some movies/shows.

Oh and I found out why the PS3 is using a disc. Right now Netflix is tied into some exclusivity rights with MS so no one else can tap into the streaming market the way the 360 can on consoles. It's not coming to the PS3 itself, it's coming to Blu-ray players with ethernet, of which the PS3 is one, a loophole they are exploiting until the exclusivity runs out.

If they can make money of something...there will always be a way around exclusivity.

I gotta say, that's pretty clever.

Semi Win/Semi Lose? I think it's cool but I already have the service on my 360 and barely use it.
