If you've used Google in the last week, you have probably noticed a theme--it is because Sesame Street turns 40. Since I'm sure a great deal of us watched this show, it would be fitting for us to talk about our favorite Sesame Street moments.

My favorite characters were Ernie and Oscar the Grouch. Oscar should have moved in with Ernie. That would have been a good living arrangement! My favorite song was this little ditty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE5c72YuuX8
And for some reasonI always liked the crayon factory segment:

I dont remember it as much as you! I'm impressed.

My favourite characters were Bert & Ernie...of course! But I also enjoyed the bit with Big Bird and The garbage monster in the street. That's all I remember Sad

Ah, big bird, cookie monster, Oscar the grouch, and then Elmo's spinoff series which pissed everybody off when I turned the TV all the way up and sang along with the theme song.
And once I grew out of sesame street, everything went downhill. He's not even Cookie Monster anymore.

Favorite moment was the rubber ducky song.

Snuffalufagus might be my favorite part. I like that a muppet has an imaginary friend.

Manah manah.
Do doo dodo do.
Manah manah.

Miiimiiimiiimiii.
Right you are, Beaker.

But I remember the drug-inspired "omg the alphanumeric characters are flying" segments the most. And the end credits. Also drug-inspired.

Ah, yes. The crayon segment. That was by far one of my favorites. I used to get so excited when that part came on. I also enjoyed the count. Not sure why, but I did.

That being said, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-Wd-Q3F8KM

I love how both leftist apologists and conservative groups like to paint Bert and Ernie as Gay because one group thinks it is a positive thing and another thinks it is detrimental.

They are puppets who happen to be roommates. Last time I checked, puppets don't have dicks.

For some reason your last sentence reminded me of a Demetri Martin joke:
Quote:
It's weird how "finger puppets" sounds okay as a noun.

I think the best part is that when I watch Sesame Street with my kids now...70% of it is the same stuff I grew up watching. It's just repackaged. That is lasting value. And it's weird how much more of your early childhood you remember as you watch your kids grow up.

They spend more time learning Spanish now then they did when I used to watching. I think that is a good thing. I'm not one of these idiots who believes English is the only language anybody should have to know.

I'm envious that I didn't grow up learning several different language like the Europeans do.

I learned Spanish a couple years back, fluency has helped in a lot of unexpected ways.

I think it's neat that my niece is being somewhat introduced to Spanish and Chinese, but I can't stand Dora the Explorer or Ni Hao, Kai Lan. The high voices and the over-repitition make me want to kill myself.

I just had an epiphany: Marcus Fenix Teaches Spanish!

No high voices, check.
No repitition, check.

Used, you're the best. I'll cut you half the profits.
