The recent blog, Peace in the Era of Call of Duty  really made me think about war games that dig deeper than simply a kill streak reward. The first game that came to mind was Spec-Ops: The Line and although I haven’t played it, I began to wonder if it did the war genre as...

It's a lot easier to make millions when you have billions at your disposal.

omg who said she is the voice of a generation?

Nobody, not everything is an attack against what someone said. I merely used that as example to show how silly it is for someone to be overly praised because they have passed on.

and i actually kind of respect paris hilton now, only for the fact she is actually a very successful business woman. she's not like kim kardashian who just sues everyone to make her money, she makes it legitly.

Dude, she got famous by making a porn movie and a reality show. A reality show about her being a preppy rich daddy's girl who can't even perform the simplest tasks. But whatever, let's not go there.

IntoTheRain wrote:
anyway, you're taking my comments about winehouse a little too far i think. in their respective careers all i said was winehouse is more talented.i barely even know about the girl, nor do i really care at all about her. if i sat down and had a choice of listening to winehouse or the doors, i would surely choose the doors.

I don't think I was taking it too far. I mean if you had just said that then I probably would've not bothered saying anything LOL.

IntoTheRain wrote:
and i defend her basically because THE MAJORITY of artists these days have absolutely no talent and sound absolutely terrible. they become famous because of their look and act, not their musical talent. she however could sing and write her own music, so i think she deserves defense, especially considering shes dead.

I can respect that, yet at the same time I can defend Morrison. You want to go after Cobain then that's fine, I'm tired of debating him anyway. I'll always be a fan and people will always hate on him without having a full grasp of who he was and how much music he wrote for the band. But Morrison on the other hand is someone I'll stick up for, especially when someone says he isn't as talented as someone like Amy Winehouse. I'm taking it too far? I DON'T THINK I'M TAKING IT FAR ENOUGH

OK guys, I think we need some calm mediation here.

Jim Morrison was an asshole. Can we all agree on that? I think we can. He's the reason the doors broke up. He did way too many drugs and drank way too much. His music was important to the development of modern rock and will be listened to for a long time. He was pretty talented. More so than pretty much all of us.

Amy Winehouse did for R&B what nobody has done since Motown: she made it a mainstream genre again. She had a pretty damned good voice and was talented enough to produce a successful jazz album as well. She was also more talented that pretty much all of us. Was she able to produce the breadth of work that Morrison did? No. But she was talented and did have an effect on contemporary pop music. Also, she's not Justin Bieber.

Can we really compare them? No. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Or the Beatles to Bruce Springsteen. They're not from the same era or the same genre.

Nuff said. Now quit bitching.

sure it is, but you still have to have the motivation to go out and do the things she does. is her brother worth hundreds of millions of HIS OWN money? no.

but anyway not getting into defending paris now, i still think shes trash, but shes not as useless as many are in her shoes. I GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE, DON'T BE A HATER.

i woulda thought the same thing till i saw her for an hour on Piers Morgan and thought she actually seemed pretty decent and down to earth now.

Nesman is so hipster he's abbreviating 'postscript' before all the cool kids do.

I now realize intotheRain feels about Amy Winehouse the way I feel about Nate Dogg.
