RIP Ralph Baer (1922-2014)

RIP Ralph Baer (1922-2014) I really, really hate writing obits. I really do. But I take it as a personal honor to be able to say good things about the men and women I respect, whether in this industry or just in my life, and Ralph Baer is the reason all of this exists in the first...

such a classic.

god i miss the old quality comedies that didnt rely on piss, puke, sex, drugs, alcohol, nudity, cum, violence, profanity, poop, urine, etc. to make the newest pathetic generation lol. fuck people are stupid anymore.

uncle buck, the burbs, money pit, what about bob?, planes trains and automobiles, etc.

I concur. I saw The Hangover II at the weekend and I didn't laugh once.
Plains, Trains & Automobiles is a favourite of mine and...well...

The thing about old movies is they when did drop an f bomb or two or have the occasional crude moment they were very well placed and add a lot to the scene, and usually catch you off guard.

I think my three favorites that come to mind would be grumpy old men, the burbs, and what about bob?

I do like the occasional new comedy, even some dirtier ones but some are just terrible. Im like you.. I didnt even find the hangover that funny. Havent watched the second one.

I like wedding crashers, 40 year old virgin, and sideways. Sideways is more of a dramedy but it was enjoyable. 40 year old virgin is pretty raunchy but i do find it hilarious. And theres a few others i find genuinely funny despite the over the top content.. Superbad was funny too.

absolutely classic odd couple II F bomb drop moment haha

the good old days

Argo.

I should've seen it sooner. The final moments were some of the best I've seen.

Rain, sideways was one of the most dull movies I've ever seen!

Sideways was alright, just a tad pretentious.

Skyfall

A few 007 moments near the end, but it plays more like a Tom Cruise Mission Impossible than Bond.

Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie.

I remember watching it when I was eight years old and having no idea what the hell was going on. It was just "OMG RYU VS SAGAT" "OMG RYU VERSUS FEI LONG" "OH SHIT T-HAWK VERSUS KEN" "WHOA GUILE SAID THE F-WORD TO BISON ARE THEY ALLOWED TO DO THAT?!" "OMG CHUN LI IN SHOWER ARE THEY ALLOWED TO DO THAT?!"

Now after watching it again... seventeen years later. I can't believe how stupid the movie is. Don't get me wrong, it's still awesome, it's also just hilariously bad.

Guile meets Deejay. Just, runs at him down the street. Deejay goes to kick him in the face, Guile blocks it all "Hey man nice kick, I'm Guile btw and these robots are after you bro"

I still love to watch the Ryu versus Fei Long fight... all because Ryu does two Judo moves on Fei Long near the end (the arm lock resulting in Fei Long's broken arm and the outer leg sweep).

Wow what a terrible weekend for movies, but it's been months since I've gone out to the theater and I'm itching for a new movie.

Olympus Has Fallen or Evil Dead? Evil Dead has gotten great reviews and I'm a fan of the cult trilogy but I've been told even people with strong stomachs were grossed out. And I was always a fan of Evil Dead/Army of Darkness for its dark humour, which didn't make the gore so gut wrenching. But good reviews...

Or Olympus which is said to have a recycled plot and will make you sick not from gore, but from patriotism. But Morgan Freeman playing the wise man...

There's also Scary Movie 5 and I just think why?

Yeah Evil Dead makes the most sense but I just received a text saying "Oh God I'm not seeing that".

Soooo Jurassic Park in 3D it is! A 20 year old movie..... But hey I'd rather a Jurassic Park re-release in 3D than a reboot.

Finally saw Skyfall. I was like, 'Javier Bardem's acting a little gay, then went, ok, Javier Bardem's acting a lot gay.' He's awesome. Pretty good movie, and the first Bond song to get stuck in my head since Tomorrow Never Dies. I was really impressed with the actual effects over special effects. Like the train fight scene was really Daniel Craig and the other guy on a moving train secured by thin cable.

What I'm jonesing for though is Iron Man 3. My boner gets a bit bigger each day for it. It's like using a sundial to tell time. Can't wait til noon.

What did you think? I mean it's the same movie I've seen a dozen times but seeing it in IMAX 3D was actually kinda cool. Made it feel new again.

Haven't gone out yet. I'm either seeing that or The Place Beyond the Pines tonight... or maybe not. I'm super wishy washy when it comes to the weekend anymore.

For me, sometimes it's just nicer to stay in and do as little as possible. Weekdays are full of getting kids to/from/ready for school and then work and then bedtimes...it just nice to relax.

^^This..

Was with friends all weekend because it just kinda happened and now I regret it, as I normally do.. makes the weekend go by too quickly, almost rather just take it slow and relax anymore.

But then if I do nothing but relax with the GF I always regret that at the end of the weekend too because it felt like a waste.. so trying to go for a happy medium anymore.. do something Friday night, then relax for the rest of it.
