I liked Wolverine Origins. I didn't care for Deadpool like everyone else, but having not read the comics, I didn't have a problem with the way they apparently ruined Gambit. Really the only part I disliked was the end with Deadpool, otherwise I enjoyed it. Kind of Like Die Hard 4 - good film minus the jet scene.

You can't ruin Gambit. He has always sucked.

Yeah, I always thought he was a stupid concept for a superhero.

I like Gambit...

That said, he's more made to appeal to women than men, honestly.

I just never really understood how some dude who threw playing cards and had a magic staff was really a "super hero." Then again, I don't know much shit about his back story. It just seemed like a stupid set of super powers to me.

He controls kinetic energy and those are the implements that he uses most often.

That being said...Black King. Now there is a kineticist.

Gambit is awesome. Shut up. This is a movie thread. I'm cold. So far page 81 sucks. I want a beer.

That's like saying "Batman is just some dude who threw boomerangs and has no parents. He's not really a 'superhero'."

No, no, no. The difference is Batman is a bad-ass, and Gambit is a guy who throws playing cards.

(I'm just being antagonistic)

But really, I think it's dumb when people say batman isn't a superhero. Dude's superpower? His unshakable morality. And the shit his oodles of money can buy him.

Also his brilliant mind and amazing detective skills, plus being on the peak of human agility and strength.

Shame those attributes are never shown in the movies.

Moonrise Kingdom

I love Wes Anderson's stuff. Though I don't like ranking broad subjects, I can abstractly say that four of his movies would easily be in my top ten if I were to do so.

Still, I hadn't seen Moonrise Kingdom yet. I'm not really sure why. So I watched it yesterday and I really loved it. My wife did also. Super charming. Nicely paced and not over-long. A few of the beats actually reminded me of a Coen brothers movie (maybe the casting had something to do with that too).

5/5

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox

DC Comics Animation makes some consistently good stuff, and this is probably their best effort so far. Really great art style (though I could have done without most of the 3D CGI), great acting, well-paced story full of action. It's also the first DC toon I've seen where I wasn't familiar with the source material. I skipped the Flashpoint arc, so that probably added to my enjoyment.

Music & Lyrics

I feel gay for admitting it but I love the crap out of this movie. Probably one of my favorite movies of all time.

Pain and Gain.

I will admit it was pretty good for a Michael Bay movie (you know, unnecessary lens flares, scantily clad women, a few explosions, too many gay jokes etc). It seemed more of a comedy. It was seriously not what I was expecting, but I still found it entertaining... just not what I was expecting.

I'll try not to spoil it too much but... with Pain and Gain, supposed to be it's based off a true story, a criminal story. It's actually really messed up and they do really messed up things, like attempted murder and murder. But the movie itself tries to make it funny, like... I'll try not to say much, but there's a scene where they're trying to handle corpses, but they're doing it in a comedic manner. A lot of people were laughing but I felt it was very disrespectful. Those people who died in the film, despite being douche bags, were actually innocent people who were wrongfully murdered (and supposedly were actually murdered in reality), and the film is essentially making fun of that.

Elysium

It wasn't bad, but it was nothing groundbreaking. It was a sort of predictable action movie with a lot of fun parts to it. Not really something I'd recommend paying for, though.

Pretty much my thoughts. District 9 was better, and both movies deal with a lot of same themes.
