So much more than war...
By shandog137

The recent blog, Peace in the Era of Call of Duty  really made me think about war games that dig deeper than simply a kill streak reward. The first game that came to mind was Spec-Ops: The Line and although I haven’t played it, I began to wonder if it did the war genre as...

The series of books was surprisingly good. I'd recommend it as a weekend read since they'll each take a night or so.

Took the boys to see Free Birds the day after Thanksgiving. It was exactly what I expected. The boys enjoyed it and I ate some delicious popcorn.

Went to Frozen the other night.

If you enjoy animated movies, you should go see Frozen.

I heard Frozen was absolutely incredible, which surprised me because all I knew about it was that it was "Look at this Larry the Cable Guy looking snowman!"

Though everyone went nuts over Tangled, and that was cute but not great.

Yeah, it was made by the same people who did Tangled, so there are some similarities, but I thought it was a lot better than Tangled was.

Also, it's basically a musical (I surprised by that, but in a really good way) with two prominent Broadway actors.

Thinking about it, it's probably a solid 9 in my book.

I'm not sure I can like Frozen more than Tangled, or that I can even watch another one of those movies. Why can't anything be drawn animation any more? Are even the Miyazaki movies like... computer-animation...? or something? I know stuff like Futurama and Family Guy is all animated by computer anymore. South Park too.

Mostly for speed. Also, because all the guys who did the hand drawn disney animation and pretty much dead now. That stuff is really difficult to do right.

They fucking copied and pasted so much though. I'm sure someone over at Disney still knows how to do that. I just wish not everything was CG in hollywood these days.

The reindeer in Frozen must be the horse from Tangled's half-brother.

Because Tangled made more money than Princess and the Frog.

Just got back from a movie date. We went to see The Hunger Games catching fire.

Was definitely good. The characters were much more interesting to me and its nice to see more of the design of the new arena.(Its also nice to see the voice of elizabeth from bioshock in it)

The cliffhanger ending though was kind of a Meh but then again I dislike almost all cliffhangers unless I can move on to the next in the series immediately.

We're the Millers

Perfectly funny, if maybe a little easy. It went for some softball gags. Easy, stupid jokes. Not as bad as Sandler or anything, but a little plain. There were definitely some jokes that I'll remember for awhile though.

Watch it if you're hard up for a comedy.

Saw the new thor, enjoyed it quite a lot, especially when Roy from IT crowd showed up. Girlfriend and I only ones that knew him in the theater, we were quite amused.

The new Thor is quite good. I really enjoyed it and I've seen it three times (with three different groups of friends).

I haven't seen many new movies lately. I'm looking forward to Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

I also have an urge to watch the following on Bluray...

-Casino Royale
-The Dark Knight
-Tangled

This movie started just as I intended to go to bed. Hour an a half later, my ass is still in the chair as the credits roll.

2 out of 5

This movie was bad. I mean, obviously. It was also that entertaining bad where you don't want to shut it off no matter how much of your time could be spent doing something better.
