Found out it's called "Bad Neighbours" in Australia because here in Australia we've got a TV show (a drama) called "Neighbours" that is hugely popular yet really shouldn't be.

dunno why "surprisingly".

people have this odd thing against him, when he never ever really did anything wrong. he has always been cool shit.

hes gonna break out big shortly i think.

I just watched the way way back

honestly my favorite movie I've seen in years, absolutely loved it. so did the girlfriend. havent watched a movie in so long that made me actually sad when it ended, because i missed the cast, the setting, etc.

sam rockwell was awesome, as usual. love steve carrell, as usual, even though he played a dick.

whole cast was great, loved the little crooked eye kid too. was just a flawless movie IMO.. best coming of age movie i've ever seen, even, dare i say it, better than the sand lot.

and the sand lot is one of my favorite movies of all time.

ok maybe not better, but right on par. wish they made more movies like this these days.

5/5

I'm actually jealous Craig gets all these movies before NA. What the hell Hollywood? I want to see Neighbours, it looks great. Seth Rogen plays the exact same character in all his films yet I still enjoy watching him. It's the same with Michael Cera; zero range yet I can't get enough of the character.

The Way Way Back was indeed a great movie. Sam Rockwell... Now he should be Nathan Drake! Oops wrong thread.

Bad Neighbours (okay, Neighbours) was a great movie.

I guess the reason I was so surprised by Zac Efron is because I always thought of him as a sorta, I dunno, dude who plays in kid's movies all the time. I was wrong though, he's great in Bad Neighbours.

He's a former Disney kid. They all carry a stigma and have to try to adjust and transition to prove themselves and be taken seriously. He actually seems to be doing a much better job at it than most of them do.

I was flippin through the channels and caught a movie called Route 666 on. It had Lou Diamond Phillips and Tank Girl in it, so I thought it would be one of those low budget horror films that was bad yet funny or entertaining, but no, just bad and boring. 1/5. It gets a 1 because there was a scene when LDP is yelling at this sheriff and is just hammin it up so much that I genuinely cracked up watching it.

Finally saw Captain Phillips

Incredible movie.... I get pretty emotional with movies for a guy.. isn't rare a tear or two escapes.

But fuuuuuuuuuuck this movie, and fuuuuck you Tom Hanks... Jesus Christ.. glad I didn't watch this in theaters. I watched it alone last night and was a mess. Just watched it again with the girlfriend to see how much she would cry, and I couldn't help myself again.

*Sorta spoilers*

The emotion he shows in the last 5 minutes on the Navy ship are unreal. Honestly can't think of any acting I've seen that compares... And the buildup in the movie and just everything about it was incredible. Progressively more intense from start to finish, until 3 Green. Then you feel the same emotions you feel like Tom Hanks would be feeling... Just incredible.

*End Spoilers*

Incredible movie.

The way way back is the best comedy/coming of age movie I've seen in years.

And Captain Phillips is the best drama I've seen in years.

It's been a good week for movies for me. Honestly wasn't too into them for a while nothing was really hitting me with the feels. But I'm blown away from these two.

Another 5/5 for Captain Phillips

Amazing Spider-Man 2

I really liked this one. Like, I was honestly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. Yes, it felt like a set up for Sinister Six, but honestly, not all that much.

Most of all, I liked Electro. He's always been one of my favorite villains, and they played him up in the perfect way. They didn't bother with the crap of just him being a really powerful criminal. Making him a social outcast who idolizes Spider-Man was done perfectly. Though him declaring people would look at him like he was a god reminded me of the Spider-Man 2 video game that he's the main villain of, in which he attempts to become a god.

I really liked that they didn't waste time with Goblin. Everyone knows who he is and what he can do. He gets his powers, gets a suit, and then makes all of his screentime count.

The only thing I didn't really like about the movie is that they wasted so much time with Gwen and Peter's relationship "will they or won't they" drama bullshit. Those scenes dragged too much, when everything else was perfect and awesome.

Also I absolutely foresaw Gwen's death. Because it's Gwen and her whole speech was saying "I'm going to die!"

While some people didn't like how Rhino had a minute on the screen, I thought it was great. It was basically just showing that Spider-Man will continue to be Spider-Man no matter what, and not every single villain is a world changing, life threatening entity.

Overall, it's a really solid flick that I need to see again. I liked it, I didn't love it, but I really liked it. It's good to see Spider-Man as not a big wimp.

4/5

^ Yeah, I agree about what you foresaw.

Spoilers regarding The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

It was pretty obvious that Gwen was going to die. That being said though, I already knew she was going to die because of the comics (in the comics, the Green Goblin kills Gwen Stacy, at least I think it's Green Goblin?) so I can't really say it was obvious for me. When it happened, man there were a lot of loud gasps in the theatre at the time. Razz

End spoilers.

Yes you are correct Craig ---> it is indeed the green goblin who kills her in the comics. The scene was played out in Raimi's Spider-Man with MJ instead of Gwen. Only MJ was saved because she signed on for a trilogy, Lol

Your review sounds so positive Longo, did we see the same movie? I kid I kid. But I just need to point out that among some of the recycled plot points we already got in Raimi's trilogy (cough Harry Osborn cough) Electro's origin has a striking resemblance to Ridder's origin in Batman Forever.

It could be a coincidence but even the actors were both former In Living Color comedians. All we need now is a comic book move with dancers and have one of them played by Jeniifer Lopez to tie it all together.

Wicked, looking at Harry Osborne as a recycled plot point is like complaining that Peter Parker becomes Spider-Man in both the Raimi and the Amazing movies.

Yeah that too. But there is more to Spider-Man than Ben dying and Harry Osborn becoming Green Goblin and I hoped we would explore more of Spidey's universe with this rebooted franchise and not the same themes again. At least Lizard and Electro were cool.

You guys already had a nerd rage about Captain America, a movie I loved, so whatever lol.

Not a movie but it's something.

Review on Comedy Central. It's on Hulu and reminds me of Office awkwardness but is full of laughs.

Not just any comic book, but one of the best french comic book of the early 80's

I really wished Americans would get more into the franco/belgium BD world.

The film will get an international release this June. Don't miss it guys!

Recently watched a bunch of shit on Netflix. Mostly old Bond movies.

A View To a Kill - Holy shit, this was terrible. Walken was ok as the Villain, but man was Roger Moore way too old for that shit. 1/5

The Living Daylights - Timothy Dalton tried to do to Bond what Daniel Craig achieved with Casino Royale. A darker version (though not as dark as Craig's Bond would go). I really liked him in the role, and am disappointed he only did 2 films. 4/5

From Russia With Love - Man, I forgot how sexist those early movies were. Did enjoy the story of this one quite a bit though. 3.5/5

Goldfinger - Holy hell, did I forget how sexist those early movies were. This will probably forever be my favorite Bond movie though, besides the extremely racist You Only Live Twice. 4/5

Live and Let Die - Roger Moore's first shot at Bond. I thought he was fine in this one, but I really didn't like the overall story. 2/5

I also watched Schwarzenegger's "Last Action Hero," which I surprisingly enjoyed. Charles Dance has a nice role as the villain. I really enjoyed how much the movie makes fun of the action hero film and all its ridiculous tropes. Also, the self-deprecation by Schwarzenegger is quite amusing. 4/5

^ Last Action Hero is a great movie. I really enjoy it.

As for all those Bond movies, yeah pretty much agree with you.

I watched half of V for Vendetta last night but was too tired and ended up going to bed. Still, I wish I could have stayed up to watch the whole thing, I really enjoy that movie.

I saw

Or as it's called down under

It was funny and I liked it. But once again there was just one too many dick jokes. I had this problem with This is The End where it was a hilarious movie but could've used less dick jokes. It just feels lazy to me however the rest of the theater laughed so maybe I'm just getting old. It's also one of those movies where everyone is a total idiot. From the police to the doctors everyone was stupid and you know they wouldn't act that way in real life. Don't expect this to be a clever comedy, it's dumb fun and as long as you go in with that attitude it's all good.

All nitpicking aside I did have a lot of fun with this one and I laughed a lot.

It's actually called "Bad Neighbours" down here in Aus-Land, but that's pretty much it. Razz I think your quick review and summary of the movie hit the nail on the head, WickedLiquid, I agree.
