With only The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Mario Kart 7 to be released, I thought we'd get a jump on this and start the nominations and discussion now. Essentially, before GameRevolution decides its Game of the Year winners, the forums and community will decide theirs. We'll be featuring the ultimate Game of the Year Forums Winner in our GR GotY post, but until then, let's make with the nominating!

The following categories will be up for grabs for every game released in 2011 with a special category for remakes and rereleases. You can nominate NO MORE THAN 3 games for each category and then we'll vote them off once nominations are closed. (Voting will commence some time after Links finishes his TFCB.)

Best Role-Playing Game - I haven't played Skyrim which will win this more than likely but Dragon Age 2 wasn't bad

Biggest Disappointment - Duke Nukem FOREVER (this should be a no brainer, there has not been a more epic fail this year)

I actually planned on writing out a big thing about the GOTY choices. I'm glad it's in this format rather than a list of the 10 best games or something. I'll just do my nominations now and get deeper into that later, though.

Is it mandatory that you played the game you are nominating?

Because if that's the case...well, the only game I could nominate would be Pro Evolution Soccer 2012, and I don't think it's Game of the Year material for you guys.

Also: Won't you wait for Need For Speed:The Run to hit shelves before nominating a racing game?

I nominate WWE12 from the start even though it isn't out for a week. Would that be classified as a fighter or sports? Biggest dissapoint would have to be Space Marine, it just feels like dynasty warrior in space.

Dan - I am completely bewildered by your sudden negativity against L.A. Noire. I think it has very little replay value, but I would hardly call it biggest disappointment. I mean, read the 2nd post in the LA Noire thread.

Good points. I'll agree with you, it's definitely a contender Dragon's Lair-esque video game design (Heavy Rain still holds the title). But it has a cool narrative which can't be said for most games.

My Best Of choices for specific systems take into account platform exclusivity, that's why Football Manager 2012 it's nominated as top PC game, instead of, say, Saints Row: The Third or any other multi-platform game.
