Hey guys, so I know that you've all enjoyed the CYOAs that've been ran on this side of the site. Well, just so you know, there's a CYOA being ran on the front page and it's gonna be great. It takes the hard hitting dynamic duo of Next Gen. Yea, that's right the GRumble Duo that won your hearts (ahem, dan and bret) is combining to write a CYOA where we throw in video games and try and screw one another over with the choices we give for the next "page".

Well, enough fluff, check out the stuff.

Objective: Find a job to pay the rent.

Across the desk from Jack sat a small, stone-faced woman. With no idea why he’d been called to her office, Jack was unable to find even the smallest clue from her appearance. After a long pause she finally started talking. “This isn’t working out as planned. You’re good…but you don’t want to be here. My suggestion, find something you enjoy.”

And with that she stood, walked across the room and opened the door. Jack didn’t move. He was dumbstruck. He felt like time had stopped, and when it finally started it flew. The next thing he knew he was home. Snapping out of his stupor, he realized that he had been sitting at his computer mindlessly typing his resume. When he read what he had written he started to laugh. “Find something you enjoy,” he squawked, mimicking the woman’s words.

What appeared on the screen in front of him were his Gamerscore, Trophy Level, and a list of his speed runs. “I’m guessing that’s not what she had in mind,” he said to himself as he deleted the document. She was crazy. What he enjoyed was paying his rent and having somewhere to live. He needed something now. He needed a job and any job would do. But it could wait until tomorrow…he had some gaming to get to.

The bell chimed as he walked in the door to the staffing agency. The receptionist looked up and smiled. “Good morning,” she chirped, “my name is Rose and how can I help you?”

“Ummm, I’m looking for work. Anything really,” Jack responded.

“Well, we don’t just do anything. What we do is find the right job for you,” she said as she started pulling out paperwork. “I hope you set apart some time for all of this, it usually takes just over an hour.” And with that he was off. He filled out the paperwork, took some personality and ability tests on the computer and before he knew it, Rose had 3 jobs placed before him.

Talk about a mixed bag. He wanted to question their methods, but this was “what they do”, right?

To take a paper route, turn to page 8.
To intern as a research assistant, turn to page 3.
To become a taxi driver, turn to page 256.

And VOTE!

We've been discussing this in Cov Ops but I somehow still had no idea this was happening on the front page this time. Very cool.

Whoops! Sorry Brett, the post on the front page is under your name now and people in the forums should feel free to vote normally in here. Just don't get butt hurt if the commenters vote for something else.

Cool, Dan. Cool, cool, cool.

I just figured that there are some people who don't hit the front page that often, so I started this.

Since Dan joined I actually check the front page as opposed to before when only the forum was a book mark.

But I still do all my posting here so

Will votes on the page itself be counted too?

Vol 1.1: http://www.gamerevolution.com/manifesto/choose-your-own-video-game-adventure-vol-11-13487

"YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH"

"Hey! Switch off that racket! This is a very delicate chemical reaction."

"Oh, sorry," Jack switched the radio back to the smooth jazz Cave Johnson had had on before. "Uh, Mr. Johnson, I'm here to fill the assistant position. The hiring agency sent me over."

Cave put the beaker down and removed the protective goggles, smoothing out his hair as he turned to look at Jack. "Rose sent you?"

"Yes, here's my resume," Jack crossed the lab from the door and handed the stern voiced man his resume, but as he did so, Jack noticed that his rather-lacking professional resume had been replaced with the one detailing all the achievements and trophies he had earned, along with a detailed list of his Steam library. How had it been swi--

"Yeah, all this looks good. Exit out this door, go down the hall past the crusher testing initiative, take a left when you see the Take-Your-Daughter-To-Science Day displays and check in at the AI research department." Jack stared blankly back at the man and the completly unexpected reaction to the Gamerscore. "You want the job or not? Move!"

Jack hurried out the door and fought his curiousity as he passed the crusher testing initiative. He quickly entered the AI research department and came face to face with a small, unassuming robot on three legs. "I see you," it said as a lazer landed right on Jack's chest. The sides popped open and two machine guns jutted out.

"OH SHI--" Jack jumped, rolled, and ran to the opposite side of the room, desparately praying the turret couldn't swivel on it's three pointed limbs. Once he was safely behind the egg-shaped death trap, Jack turned and saw a Jack-shaped perforation of bullet holes. The door cracked and fell off it's hinges as Jack looked down at what had just tried to kill him.

"Are you still there?" the turret emitted in a pathetic sounding voice. Jack frowned and swiftly kicked the turret. It spun on one of it's legs and fell facing Jack.

"SHIT, SHIT," Jack kicked it again and it spun on it's smooth shell. There was no way he was going to wait and see where the lazer landed and jumped through the door next to him.

"CONGRATULATIONS" a familiar voice boomed. Jack looked up as GLaDOS inched nearer to his face. The maniacal AI loomed large over him, but her voice was friendly and domicile. "You passed the test! Please collect your paycheck."

A slip of paper fed out of the space below the machine's sensor array. Jack was awestruck. GLaDOS seemed to sense Jack's wariness. "It's OK, tubby human. This was a contract position, so get your flabby ass out of here. I want you gone."

The metal door slammed behind Jack. Time to head back to the employment agency, but... where in the world would they send him next?

To clean up a mansion, turn to page 12.

To babysit, turn to page 64.

This went up on the front page this morning.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN VIDEO GAME ADVENTURE; VOL 1.2
Do you have something to get this stain out?
http://www.gamerevolution.com/manifesto/choose-your-own-video-game-adventure-vol-12-13547

“I’m just glad you wore something that you wouldn’t mind getting dirty,” Rose chirped at Jack.

And so was he. He didn’t mind getting a little dirty. Admittedly, he was pretty excited to clean a mansion. After coming face to face with bullet firing turrets, Jack was ready to just do a little light dusting and vacuuming. He was also excited because he had never been to a mansion before. He wondered if the place would have a dumbwaiter…or a bidet...

“Ahem.”

Jack broke out of his reverie to see Rose pointing out the window.

“Your ride is here. Hope the job doesn’t bite,” she said with a smile.

Outside sat a helicopter, the spinning blades causing dust to fly everywhere. “Wow,” Jack exclaimed, “they sent a helicopter! This mansion dude must be loaded!” But as he scrambled out the door, he came to a halt. Through the thick dust he could make out a large emblem on the side of the helicopter.

An emblem that completely wiped the grin off of his face. This wasn’t what he had originally been planning, but he had already accepted the assignment. And it was paying better than minimum wage, so he climbed on board.

Inside the leader of the team, Wesker, greeted him and started briefing Jack on the situation. He knew it back to front of course. Strange occurrences, situations involving cannibalism, and a whole team of highly trained policemen missing. This would be easy, it was one of his speed runs after all. But Jack knew what he really wanted to do. However, Wesker was armed to the teeth and probably capable of killing him without the aid of a weapon. On top of that they hadn’t even issued him a weapon yet.

As Wesker droned on about the situation, Jack noticed Barry looking at him. “What is this? What is it? What is that,” he asked pointing at the various items on Jack.

“Umm, is he alright,” Jack asked the woman next to him.

“What? Oh…Barry…he’s taken a lot hits over the years. He can still handle a gun pretty well, but we mostly keep him around for the laughs,” Jill said quietly.

“Hey, you two, enough whispering in the corner. You’d think you were plotting some kind of evil scheme,” Wesker pompously laughed, “and besides, we’ve arrived at Raccoon City. It’s time to get suited up and find Bravo Team. So, kid, what else would you like besides this?” And with that he handed Jack a handgun and some bullets.

To request a lock pick, turn to page 52
To get a squeaky toy, turn to page 8
To shoot Wesker right in his smug, sunglass-wearing face, turn to page 64

Happy voting!

Hey all, the next volume in Dan's and my CYOA is going up sometime later today or early Saturday, so...vote! We've currently got a tie and we don't want to let Dan decide, do we? Certainly not.
