FEATURED VOXPOP oblivion437 Update: I was unfortunately not aware of Shamus Young's severe criticism of Fallout 3 available here to link in the original piece and I regret that.  It dovetails rather nicely with what I've written and it's much better executed than my piece.  I strongly recommend anyone...

nope, you're right, IDGAF about the wiring in my case xD as long as she runs cool and smooth, panel never goes on, just sittin on top of my desk, never gets dusty

dark photo, the headphones are my babys, sennheiser pc360s

yeep, i have TOYS.. it's a tradition, every year the gf and my mom get me some toy from a pixar movie or a video game or something. my mom used to complain because christmas wasn't fun anymore cause my bro and i got older and just wanted cologne and clothes and cds and stuff.. so we both told her to keep getting us a toy every christmas.

deep down inside, i secretly like that i get a toy every christmas. and the GF has gotten in on the tradition xD

the case on the last pic is my secondary tower.. still runs most anything flawlessly.. but needed one for the TV and one for the monitor.

and didn't really take a pic of peripherals... both computers have a blackwidow ultimate and a deathadder

Its good to see the cooler master cooler is so popular Smile

What Cpu and video card are you running? I was going to guess a 2600k. The video card looks a lot like my friends 260 but those coolers are on other msi cards.
Your system looks good.

Your super mario toys are pimp. I hella want that yoshi.

Me and ITR are running damn similar setups, right down to the awesome cable management. I just have more HDDs and my TX isn't the modular one.

Does anyone know of any reasonably priced large monitors yet, like 30"+?
Because my TV works for games like ME3 and BF3 and shit, but games like Civ5 or Anno with lots of small writing just suck to play on it.
Maybe even just a good LED TV?

Since I got around to cleaning off my desk, I might as well join in too...

My desktop currently. 27" 2560x1440 IPS monitor (going above 1080p is so awesome - don't think I could ever go back). Paradigm Mini Monitors. And my HD650s just because I like to show them off (and for a rough size comparison)
Not pictured - my Leopold Cherry MX red keyboard (mechanical is the only way to roll) and my Logitech G700.

My tower is too much of a pain in the ass to get out - plus its heavy as hell, so you'll have to do with a picture thats around 3 years old. It looks basically the same, even though I've replaced the mobo and have 6950s now.

I'm pretty sure 30" is the largest PC monitor on the market yet, and those all run around $1200+ still. There's been some cheapish 27" coming out though, some around $600 or so compared to the usual ~$1000 for big name brands...Which is pretty much the main reason I got mine in the first place.

Very nice monitor and speakers. I almost went IPS myself. Wish I had extra dough to get one for games that I benefit less from 120hz from, like starcraft 2 or anno 2070.

p.s. nice cable management and nice speakers to Smile

I'm one too! Well a part timer anyway. My setup is pretty bland and boring so I don't have anything nice to show. My tower is an ugly monster and I like it. And the contents of said monster are pretty mid range now a days.

Are you guys prepared for this? BAM!

I was going to a LAN party when I accidentally dropped the case on the concrete outside. Luckily everything still works.

Ok, here it is...

First the desktop:

And behold... The Monolith!

That's not the actual name of the tower but it totally should have been. The resemblance is striking.

My girlfriend has cats and dogs and wants me to move in with her soon so I finally broke down and bought a proper case for my gaming rig.
The Fractal Define R5 Titanium was on sale recently for $90.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352050

Comes with fully filtered intake fans front and bottom and also comes with sound dampening material. Of course with the new case meant I had to get two 140mm Noctua fans for the front. They cost $63 for two! The fans with the sound dampening case and the controller all together are very effective at silencing my rig.

No mechanical hard drives. Just SSDs behind the motherboard tray.

The new case was already 20 pounds on its own and with the hardware in it the rig it is very heavy!

Before

After

Oh and for those of you who enjoy this kind of thing.

Oh boy bad news. The motherboard just couldn't take the transition. After a day in the new enclosure the motherboard has given up the ghost. Hunting down a new motherboard that has a matching cpu socket but still supports high speed SLI.

Drink one or smoke one for our fallen friend.

It was probably getting close to the end before the swap anyway, 680s had a nasty habit of trying to take more than the 75w allowable from the PCIe slot.
I'm worried about my little H97 with this power hog of a 280X, can feed absurd amounts of power into it and it'll beg for more.

The R5 is a very nice case. I would have gone for one if i was going for a full ATX build, i've learnt my lesson about cheaping out on cases and motherboards, shit just isn't worth it. Do it properly once and never worry again.

She had a sata power port to give the pci express slots extra power.

She was a good board. She lasted 3 and a half years and four gpus. I would buy another if I could but they just don't sell them anymore and I can't even find it on eBay. I have another motherboard that fits my cpu on the way but it won't be as good. Sad times.

I assume the weight of the gpus may have been too much. 980s are heavy cards.
