Best PC racing games?

Finally saw the light and hooked up an Xbox controller to my PC... loving a lot of games I never used to even bother with on PC. Using PC as a console on TV now.

Looking for the best looking/most fun racing game available.

Picked up Dirt 3 and am really enjoying it, but lookin for something a little prettier, and more hectic if there is anything available.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is on sale for 19.99 with all DLC on Origin.. I hate using anything on Origin but if its worth it at that price I'll snag it.

Any suggestions?

2012 Need for speed most wanted is really good(Has a few minor engine optimization issues but nothing that holds the game back)

My favorite is probably still Need for Speed The Run. It at least has a good simple story.
It originally released with a 30fps cap and it took them almost 3 months to release a patch that removed it.

But racing at 120fps in the frostbite 2 engine was really awesome.



Another shoutout goes to Split Second but it has a fps cap that you cant really remove.

I'd hardly call downloading a copy of an old game, that's no longer being produced by the publisher, pirating.

And used, I guess I was a hipster before it was cool. All you other Slim Shadys are just imitating.

Carmageddon 1-2, Streets of Sim City and Road Rash. Oddly enough, the best racing games are games that you don't only race.

Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed/2000.

Not even kidding, that game is to date the only game i've played that mixes arcade and simulation physics properly. It has better physics than the current need for speed games, despite being PS1 era.

Give it a try, honestly, it'll surprise you.

Aside from that, i'm just not sure what other good PC driving games there are that aren't sims or have shit physics (see: recent NFS).
Test Drive Unlimited (the original, better than the 2nd) is damn good fun, but feels a little dated these days.

You could also setup pcsx2 for Gran Turismo 4 if you want, but just be aware that even the PAL version struggles to run smooth.
Of course, this would allow you to play the best game ever created. Road Trip Adventure / ChoroQ 2.
