As the talk concluded, the duo revealed that they wanted this to become "more than talks" and Abrams said he has an idea for a game and seeks to partner with Valve. Newell added that the pair will also "figure out" if they can collaborate on potential Portal and Half-Life films moving forward.

Oh JJ Abrams you silly little tease you. How many lens flares could Gordan Freeman fight off? All kidding aside, a JJ Abrams Half Life film would be pretty awesome.

“Movies take away this notion of agency," Newell said. "When I'm a gamer, I'm in the game." After showing the Cloverfield clip, Newell explained "I understand the narrative device, but as a gamer I’m saying ‘put the camera down and f**king run’ and I can’t do that.”

Abrams countered by pointing out that plenty of real-life YouTube clips have the same problem, and you still "see examples of people who also should have f**king run." He continued by showing a clip from Half-Life 2 in which the player picked up objects and threw them at the heads of NPCs. "Players are often driving the scene in the wrong direction," Abrams explained. "You’ve got a story going on, and you’ve got characters teleporting sh*t and throwing things at people.” He added that exploring can be great but doesn’t tell a story..

An interesting and funny point...
