I was listening to some old music in the car today, and seriously thought, "man, I wish I grew up in the 80s". Cool music, everyone seemed pretty chilled out, people drove around and it was cool to act like an 80's douche. Plus, Karate Kid. Also - no dubstep.
The girls were way prettier too - no fake tan girls (oopma loopmas) anywhere. They wore those sexy jeans that went up to their bellybutton (which then made their ass look GREAT!)
Leather and denim too!
This comes off of the release of Blood Dragon too, because growing up with shows like that would have been immense. I sort of did - Biker Mice from Mars, He-Man...things like that. I wanted MORE.

So I ask people - is there a time or age you wish you grew up in? And why?
It can be as old as caveman times because you wish to whack your partner on the head.

I always kinda wished I was born a few years earlier, to more fully appreciate the finer things from the 80's and 90's. Cartoons, toys, when the internet was fun, that kind of stuff.

The 80's did sound pleasant. Plus the 80's was when Sammy Hagar joined Van Halen. Truly, Eddie was my inspiration to teach myself guitar. Of course, I don't think he's the best. I don't think anyone is the best. I simply just enjoy the sound of a guitar. 70s and 80s had some nice rock music.

I sometimes wish I was growing up in the 70's. That's it.

I was born at the perfect time, because it allows me to be me.

i wish i was born further in the future. Nostalgia is nostalgia.. you'd complain about anytime you lived in and say "i wish i was born 20 years earlier".

but i love technology and space.. so the further i'm born in the future the more i'd get to see. i'm really sad i'm almost 100% going to pass away before we really get anywhere in space.

Don't know for sure, though. We're currently looking into a lot of things with the goal of pushing our lifespan up. Maybe in 50 years we'll be living to be 150, and you might live long enough to see regular travel to and from mars and maybe the Voyager craft will send back interesting data.

More likely we'll kill ourselves, though. The earth will be overpopulated before 2030, which will cause some interesting wars.

If we did manage to make it to 2200, though, i'd have loved to be around then. Would be extremely interesting times, with Earth starting to hate on us (huge climate change is due soon) and presumably reliable space travel, maybe we'll decide to hit up some of the other places in this milky way of ours.

I always think I would have loved the 60s

But then I realize I wouldnt have the technology I have today
And I would loose out on the drug research and recreational substances created after 60

So Id love to be in the 60s but only if I could somehow have my computer from today and substances today in it.

Time for a hot tub time machine!

i'm talking out of our solar system and into another. im quite confident there will be routine trips to Mars if I live to the 70-80 years range.

if I could live long enough that they find scientific proof of life on other planets, preferably intelligent, I'll be content. I whole heartedly believe it exists.. but will we find it during my time here? who knows.

I wish I grew up in the late 1800s so I could grow a mustache like this:

And not get mistaken as a porn star. Only for that reason though.

The 80's would have been cool. I love music of the 80's.

I was born in the 80's but I was born in '87, so I barely remember any of it.

There were some good things about the 80's that I remember fondly, like when my stoner aunt used to watch headbangers ball on MTV when the channel actually played music before it became a bunch of shitty shows aimed at 15 year old girls.

How happy I was when I got my electric toy car racing track for Christmas

Edit:Almost forgot my magnetic football game, man that thing was pretty terrible...

But there were some moments that made me sad, like the time my parents took me to the Nike outlet for some Air Jordan's only to be teased mercilessly by the rich kids at school because I got the older model.

The fashion was pretty rough too. If you were super cool you had well to do parents you wore Z Cavaricci pants:

I never had the privilege of wearing those but I did wear down my parents enough to give in and by me some nice IOU shirts which were "in" at the time.

As for myself, I'd think I would have liked to grow up in the old west, but the Hollywood Kurt Russell Tombstone version where everything looks nice and not the real world version where everyone died from dysentery.

If I were to live in the past it would be definitely in some other country. The late 1800's and early 1900's in America have always interested me.

I hope you like dying in a factory, because that's what is in store for you as an immigrant in that time.

I was thinking of dying of hunger in the Klondike gold rush, but that doesn't sound too shabby either.

Couldn't agree more Smile The 60's would have been awesome! And yeah it might have been nice to have some DMT back then, but then again, acid was cheap and potent. So would it have been really all that bad to not have access to molly or deemsters? Lol youduve still blown yer mind either way ;P
