I have and will continue to have a place in my heart for Nintendo. In fact, my first console was a Super Nintendo. The video game market has changed drastically since the early '90s and it seems like what once was platinum is more so along the lines of silver now. Nintendo has always been...

Hey

Im currently developing a strategy game and I would like your feedback regarding releasing it as DRM or DRM Free?

So far the response has been quite evenly split. Im currently considering a DRM free for KS release and then a DRM version to be released on Steam.

thoughts, comments suggestions?
If you want to see the game project, please go to Kickstarter and search for 'artifact red-x' I wont put the URL as im after feedback on the question

looking forward to your response

Just make your game great.

Dont worry about adding DRM and just go DRM free, even on steam.

Price your game correctly based on the actual value of the game. People will not pay $60 for anything but AAA games and even then its hard.

I thought Steams DRM was used most of the time anyway.

Personally, i don't think you should bother with DRM. The pirates will crack it within a week anyway, so all you'll be doing is wasting your time.
Leave it DRM free, and put a little 'thanks for supporting us!' message at the start to guilt people. Price it well and i guarantee it'll be pirated less than any AAA DRM-riddled heap of crap.

Works for me. I wouldn't buy a Ubisoft or EA game if they were the last on the planet, but i've spent serious coin at Good Old Games and on DRM-free indies, like Kerbal Space Program. Also, Humble Bundle.

If your software is successful enough, people will pirate it anyway, DRM or no DRM.

Forget DRM, just work on making a good game. I brought KSP even though that game has no DRM and is easily pirated because it is a good game.
