Has a horrible filter applied to the image that is not currently able to be disabled in the options. It causes the textures to crawl and shimmer. Took a video to show what I mean.
http://tinypic.com/r/2zguvxl/8

Google does not show any current way to disable the filter.
Its sad because some of the textures are really high quality and the filter washes out the detail!

SLI has a slight microstutter.

The game does have a field of view slider that goes both higher and lower.

Techland didn't send out review copies until one day before release. Lets find out why.

It looks like film grain, to me.

"Why have film grain in a first person game? Why would your eyeballs be grainy?"

Luckily we can disable Nvidia Depth of Field and Motion Blur. If only we could remove the film grain.

Horrible optimization once you get outside the starting area. Even on 980SLI. Framerate is all over the place.

The wind and stuff moving in it is really immersive and I would like to see more of it in games. The shadows are amazing specially with the foliage moving in the wind.

I agree with De-feels-Ting, it looks like a film grain filter thingo to me. Strange that you can't turn it off in the options and settings?

I'm looking forward to Dying Light, I want to get it for the PS4.

I really hope in the console version you can turn that film grain crap off. That stuff looks terrible in games and drives me up the wall.

Looks like the game doesn't properly multithread.(Probably due to DX11) which means it may not be something they can patch. Windows 10 just released a update for its preview build enabling DX12 but it requires the developer to program for DX12 so only new games will possibly use it.

Doesn't look like a particularly bad port, just unoptimized. Hopefully a couple updates and a new driver we'll see it all good.
And yeah i hate film grain, 48hrs or less until there's a mod to remove it.

The biggest problem i see is, this game has an nvidia logo right there in the settings menu and yet it runs like shit on nvidia cards as well as AMD, so the hell's going on there?

I understand this is a PC thread, but I've gotta say - I bought Dying Light on the PSN for PS4 but the damn thing won't actually download. I'm not the only one experiencing this problem it seems. I'll be calling PSN Australia today and asking them wtf.

Ouch , sorry to hear that bro. :edit: wow it is a big issue effecting a lot of people. Apparently the developer took down the original download which is the one that PSN is linked to. You are probably going to have to contact PSN bro. I feel for you dude, that hurts. PSN sure was happy to take your money though huh?

The game is heavily single threaded making it very cpu bound. The game loves CPU overclocks. I found turning view distance to half gave me a frame rate 58-89. It does fluctuate a lot but because I have gsync it isn't a issue for me.

The game just needs proper multithreading and optimization. The game is gorgeous with its moving wind, foliage, lighting and shadows! If you could turn off the film grain you would see that textures on high have very small details that are very appreciated.

I saw my brother playing Dying Light last night on his PC via Steam (I was very jealous). It looks really good, but I did notice some frame rate drops, especially when stuff on screen got hectic (multiple enemies, sudden changes in environment detail etc).

I called Playstation Network Australia this morning. Basically the game was pulled off retail and even online too. They tell me that it should be available to download within the next twenty four to forty eight hours. I said I'm happy to wait, but if it takes any longer than that, I'd like a refund. They said I can apply for a refund, but a refund can take up to seventy two hours and that I may not even get my refund.

Pretty crappy if you ask me. Here's hoping I can download it tonight before judo.

They can tell you you might not get a refund all they want, start throwing around words like 'ACCC' and 'small claims court' and they'll change their tone real quick.
Companies have learned not to fuck with australian consumers - just ask valve.

I don't understand how or why this game (and other ports recently) aren't bloody multi-threaded. The xbone and PS4 are both running quad cores so the PC ports should, at the very least, use 3 cores on AMD APUs.

Part of the problem is the inherent problems with DX11. DX12 will do a much better job at mutlithreading.

:edit: Instructions for removing the film grain!
Extract Data0 from Dying Light\DW with winrar. Then take all of those folders and files and paste them in C:\Users\"username"\Documents\DyingLight\out
Then Navigate to the C:\Users\"username"\Documents\DyingLight\out\data\scripts folder and open varlist_noise in notepad. Change the 0.15 to 0.00 and save.

Dying light devs say they are working on a optimization patch until then they suggest this
Quote:
“In the meantime, there is a possible fix to the problem for at least some of you, see below:

Please make sure the the VIEW DISTANCE slider in MAIN MENU>OPTIONS>VIDEO is set to EXACTLY HALF.

The half-point value is the default for HIGH QUALITY settings, anything above has little impact on visual quality while being extremely taxing for even top-notch hardware.”

I have also found that turning off core 0 affinity for the game and then turning it back on makes the game properly thread itself across all cores.

Ouch. Dyling Lights publisher is using DMCA to censor mods.

I haven't noticed any film grain on the console. For the most part, it looks great on the PS4 and I've yet to experience any bugs.

Sounds exactly like backpedaling from the PR department after getting thier asses ruined by the media.
Doesn't explain the DMCA takedown notices.

I wouldn't be surprised if the devs are having internal spats with the publisher.

Quote:

Techland is preparing to release modding tools for dying light.

Quote:
we are currently working on free and extensive modding tools for the game. And we want players to tell what they would like to see... We’re inviting all Dying Light players to visit our official discussion board and share their mod ideas - no matter how crazy - with us here."

"After the modding tools are released, we plan to actively support the coolest mods created by players,"
