I am a PS3 owner and someday hope to be a PS4 owner, yet I am not at all dissatisfied with my choice to delay purchase, solely based on the current PS4 library. When I transitioned from a Playstation 1 to a Playstation 2, I was pleasantly surprised that I could for the most part rid myself of my PS1...

When do you think SSD will be standard issue in every desktop computer? Also where else can this tech be applied?

They already ARE standard issue in every gaming desktop, most gaming laptops and many netbooks.

Give it another 5 years when 1tb 2.5" SSDs are the same price as 120 or 250gb ones today and HDDs will effectively be a thing of the past.

Yeah that would be awesome and make sense, I'm just curious when load times in games and other apps will be instinct gone forever kaput etc. That is my dream to just start playing the game instantly.

Some games have ridiculous load times, annoying it is.

The time is now. SSDs are ridiculously cheap now and prices continue to fall. I run a ssd or two in every system I have.

Hell even my father has bought a ssd for his PC and laptop.

(All of these are home built systems other than the laptop)

Negro, pls. I installed a 250GB SSD in my mac for much cheaper, and it is set up as a fusion drive as well.
