The perils of the Hype Train…

The recent release of Evolve and The Order 1886 really got me to thinking about the disparity between the perspective of sales-driven publishers and the quality-driven purchases of consumers. The “Hype Train” is nothing new, but the way it is utilized has been creating far more...

After following the You Can't Preorder Anymore, But Here's How To Find An Xbox One Or PS4 Before Christmas thread, I found that Amazon EU did indeed still have preorders for the Playstation 4 available. I had a question I was hoping I could find or ask in the comments to that section, but it seemed to turn into nothing more than a pissing match between big truck and Frank.

I looked up region coding for the PS4, and have mostly found that this is non-existent. I assume this means that I should have no problems playing any games bought locally on my PS4. Could there be any more unforeseeable problems due to regions (i.e. DVDs and such)?
.

Also, I'd like to note that my total on Amazon EU, after shipping and converted to US Dollars, was $499. And that's paying $30 more for the fastest shipping option, instead of the standard. Its not -that- much more expensive than the $399 + tax here. Its misleading, because on the Amazon EU site, it lists it as 349 Pounds, which translates into roughly $555. But when you add it to your cart and go through the procedures, the total ends up being 295.78 Pounds. This translates to 469.94 dollars with the standard 6 - 10 day shipping. In case anybody was curious.

If you're using a PS4 to play DVDs, you're doing it wrong.

IIRC, it's the same as the PS3. Games are region free, but blu-rays are region locked. No exactly a problem these days with $25 blu-ray drives, but might be something to watch out for.

Only real problem is the power supply. Quick google provides no info on if it's an autoswitch or not, but as the PS3s was and because it'd simply be cheaper that way, i'm assuming it will be. Just double check first.

Hah. Yeah, I don't plan on using my PS4 as a DVD player, but I'm just trying to make sure there are no surprises in any case.

Good call on the power cord. In either case, I'm sure there would be a converter for a reasonable price on Amazon
