I like cheap. Mounting this is the question - will I need to buy some brackets to place this into the case?

If you're case doesn't have a 2.5" mount, then you can buy a thingy that converts a 3.5" bay to a 2.5" one.
That's extra money and effort, though. As SSDs don't spin, you can genuinely just duct tape it wherever the hell you feel like and it'll be fine.

Ok Madster .. I've got all my components and have a new desk so I'm going to build this bad boy this weekend. What I do not have yet is an OS. I want to use Window, but paying $200 for it will mean that I potentially wait another week. Any advice? Linux works but whats the learning curve?

Kat.ph may help with Windows.

Ubuntu Linux has a very small learning curve and is pretty easy to jump right into. There is also Mint but Ubuntu is the more preferred option for gaming I think.

Yep, either torrent it and pretend you've used one of my Win7 keys (still got like 3 sitting here), torrent a copy of Home Premium and REALLY use a key (Ultimate has more seeds = quicker download) or throw linux on it and figure out what works and what doesn't.
Hell, if you were really serious about going full legal, i could straight up mail you a sticker key of Vista, have 2 of them on a couple old-ass PCs i stripped for parts.

I personally wouldn't give a shit, though. Microsoft certainly don't - bloody Microsoft Security Essentials updates through windows update with my copy, the manufacturer name of which you find in the system properties as 'Ass' and the model is 'Master'.

Should've got a K and undervolted it, save some heat

Incidentally the OP is pretty out of date these days, but i don't really feel like putting in the work to change it up yet.
Maybe once the Z97 successor's out, price up some DDR4+GTX8xx builds.

Madster HELP!!!

CPU is overheating! Idle I'm about 40degrees C, but when I start playing it jumps to around 70-85.. Sad

I was worried is was a flow issue, but I ran it with my case off and it has the same temp profile.. 40 while idle 80 while gaming, almost instantaneously. The fans are pushing air out and not pulling air in - with the right side of the case completely unobstructed for ventilation.

I could reapply thermal paste, but not sure if that will help.. and ideas for something to help with cooling?

I am sure we will be able to help you.

Do try to reapply thermal paste.
It looks like your cpu came with a very thin default heatsink. You should think about upgrading to a larger one.

I would also suggest maybe upgrading your top fan to a higher speed fan.

Your case is weird. If I was using it I would cut out the back panel and attach a exhaust fan.

See, that's what i was talking about before with the K CPU. You could've simple dropped the voltage dramatically at stock clock speeds and saved a bunch of heat and power usage.

Best bet is a better heatsink. Figure out how much room you have left over and get the biggest heasink you think you can fit. If possible, clean up the wiring around the CPU, even just straight up cut off the wires you don't need, maybe short SATA connectors, etc. Just get as much room around it as you can.
Something like a Deepcool Gabriel/Silverstone NT06 might just squeeze in. If they're more than you want to spend (or you might not be able to fit them), have a look at the Arctic Cooling Alpine 11 Pro.

And yeah that top fan looks to be at least a 92mm, you can almost certainly get a new fan that pushes more air but is actually quieter. Just remember to set up the CPU heatsink like the stock intel one, if you have the top fan flowing air down into it while it's trying to push air up, guess what's not gonna work?
