So much more than war...
By shandog137

The recent blog, Peace in the Era of Call of Duty  really made me think about war games that dig deeper than simply a kill streak reward. The first game that came to mind was Spec-Ops: The Line and although I haven’t played it, I began to wonder if it did the war genre as...

And yet another reason for me to never spend another cent there comes out. Giving developers the ability to block the ability to give a gift across regions and banning people who try to work around that bullshit is retarded to such an extent that i'm pretty sure it's actually illegal according to australian consumer law.

Seriously, guys. Stop using steam. You're giving money to a system where if they decide to, they can remove your ability to play any of your purchased games forever. A system that supports region locking on the fucking PC, to the extent of blocking games you've already received.

The steambox can go fuck itself.

If you'd ask me 8 or 9 years ago when Half-Life 2 came with mandatory Steam install and usage, I'd agree with you.

I've learned to come to terms with Steam. I have no love for being forced to use it for games I buy a physical copy of, but I do like the frequent sales so that takes a little sting out of the DRM part of it.

What pisses me off more is games on Steam that require and addition account to play. Almost picked up Might and Magic X cause it was 25% off until I saw the required U-Play account. Fuck you, no sale. I swore that shit off after having to sign into Game for Windows Live every time I wanted to play my Fallout 3 DLC which I had to run Steam to play, which got pretty damn annoying after a while. If I have to sign in to more than one thing to play your game, I ain't buying it!

Dude, you could remove the GFWL stuff via modding. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/1086

But I agree with you. GTA IV was seriously the worst offender of them all. If you brought the game from Steam you gotta sign-on to Steam first, then RockStar Club, and THEN Games for Windows Live. Yeesh.
