Finally Broke My Crowdfunding Rule
By oblivion437
Posted on 01/12/15
I've had a long-standing rule to avoid getting involved in any sort of crowdfunded activities.  I didn't donate to Shadowrun or Wasteland, but I did buy and enjoy both of them (I'm plugging both of those games right now, just so you know they're good).  I haven't...

All right gang! It's time for me to stop avoiding the Nintendo threads and start using it. I just ordered a pink 3DS first edition (it was refurbished and only cost 80 bucks!) and it'll arrive in 3 days. So people? I need to know what games i should get first to introduce myself to the 3DS world.

...and no, not zelda. Sorry, links!

Haha, I was about to suggest The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3Ds as well as A Link Between Worlds, my bad!

However Lien, here's some games that might get your attention.

-Fire Emblem: Awakening
-Monster Hunter 3Ds
-Bravely Default
-Pokemon X/Y
-Super Mario 3D Land
-Super Smash Bros. 3Ds (not available until later this year)

Regarding Pokemon X / Y, it's really up to you. Both games are essentially the same but have minor differences, e.g. what Pokemon you can find and catch, some legendaries (e.g. what's on the front cover) and a few other things, like for example, Charizard has two Mega Evolutions. In Pokemon X Charizard can become a Dragon/Fire type Pokemon, while in Y he remains Fire/Flying, albeit a lot more powerful.

Basically, it's up to you, personal preference. Personally, I've got X.

If you want non-RPGs, here's some here. Some of these I haven't played, but it's what I've heard from people and reviews.

-Animal Crossing: New Leaf
-Super Mario Bros 3D Land
-Resident Evil: Revelations (I highly recommend this, the Circle Pad Pro is nice, but it's not necessary)
-Kid Icarus: Uprising (recommended you have the Circle Pad Pro with this one)
-Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D (again recommended you have a Circle Pad Pro)
-New Super Mario Bros. 2
-Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition

Hmmm a circle pad pro... maybe i'll get it but after i get some games.

and YES! Kid Icarus! I'll definitely get that! And maybe that metal gear 3 game too even though i finished it like 15 times.

Also too afraid of Animal crossing, i hear it's more addicting then WoW... and i am still not off that stuff! Mario can wait, i've played enough version of it on the Wii and DS i think i can wait.

How are the phoenix wright games? And is zero's escape good on the 3DS or only on the vita?

Chose wisely cause y budget list is almost full here...

You don't need a circle pad or whatever the second stick is called.

I found that I didn't need a Circle Pad Pro for Resident Evil: Revelations. It certainly helps and makes the game play controls similar to a "traditional" third person shooter, but without a Circle Pad Pro makes the controls similar to Resident Evil 4. I was fine with that.

However for Kid Icarus: Uprising, I've been told it's highly recommended that you get a Circle Pad Pro, unless you want super awkward controls and your hands getting sore.

The same goes for Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater.
