and it happens they speak english there too!

http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1290248,00.html?f=rss

seriously though, i'm not liking goodells' idea of each team playing overseas, i don't think it's gonna make football more popular outside of america, and it must have an affect on the teams, while the extra travel isn't so bad for east coast teams like giants/dolphins(it's like going san francisco for them) but the extra media attention and overall differentness must be real annoying for them, especially coaches

The Anaheim Ducks general manager Brian Burke blames their first two opening season games against the LA Kings in London for their poor start. Maybe it'll have the same effect on the NFL teams that play?

Both teams have to deal with the conditions, so it should even out and not be an excuse.

Some dumbass ran onto the field during today's Giants/Dolphins game.....

And people were blowing their whistles which kept confusing the players.

Horrible decision to play overseas.

Maybe for that game, but a season is longer than a game. What if one of those teams had to play their top division rival next week? They are automatically a day behind and then there will be jet lag. The entire week will feel different.

They've got NFL europe for a reason, I don't see them playing their games over here. We don't need to go there.

Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder has admitted not knowing people speak English in London.
...
He admitted he did not know until now where London was - or that Londoners spoke English.

"I couldn't find London on a map if they didn't have the names of the countries," he said.
...
"I swear to God. I don't know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I learned that."

Crowder added: "I know (Washington Redskins linebacker) London Fletcher. We did a football camp together. So I know him.

"That's the closest thing I know to London. He's black, so I'm sure he's not from London. I'm sure that's a coincidental name."

This is pretty much the entire article. It's not about the NFL playing in London, it's about how this guy is a complete dumbass.

No it isn't. That is what I originally thought when I read the article eariler today, because that is what it is. They wrote the article just to tell everyone about his ignorance.

It is mind boggling how someone as old as him didn't know the english language comes from england. I mean, come on, I knew they spoke english in London since I was like 4. At that age I also knew there were black people there. :/ They feed the origins of America down our throat every other week in grade school (along with making us pledge to the flag every single day, which I don't think they do anymore).

They do do it. My Constitutional Law teacher makes us do the pledge everyday, but he's an ex-cop and vet, so eh...

And aren't you're 1st two sentences a contradiction?

No it isn't....because that is what it is....

The "no it isn't" was referring to your post. "That is what I originally thought..." is referring to mC's post. I guess I could've worded that a little better.

This push by Goodell for regular season games outside of their home stadiums - and more specifically outside of the US - is a bad move.

Preseason exhibitioon games I can understand, I guess, but regular season games that actually matter shouldn't be put under any extraordinary conditions.

actually they both have their bye weeks now and nfl europe is cancelled, and british soccer teams do frequently come to america, altough not for regular season, only exhibition

That guy is a complete joker MC. Americans are dumb. American Jocks doubly so- but Crowder was first in his class... I have a feeling he was giving the press a hard time.

Also- as far as NFL success in other countries- there is a big following in the UK and Central and South America. That game at Wembly was sold out. That is impressive and if they can sell out a game a year in the UK or outside the states, that is big business for the NFL.
