Free Shirts On The Train To PAX

Hey Revolutionaries, If you’re coming to Penny Arcade Expo 2008 this weekend, you might see people sporting these sweet shirts, and I’ve got the scoop for you.
The name on the back, Brian Jo, is that of one of the 20 contestants chosen for the 2008 Omegathon competition. Games like Jenga, Geometry Wars, and Rock Band will test Brian’s life skills like "strategery", singing, and moving toy blocks.
Though Brian’s 19 opponents were chosen randomly from PAX pre-sale ticket holders, Brian won his spot in a last-minute web contest. The number ‘498123’ on the back of the shirt is the number he chose out of a million, in an epic hour-long round of ‘Guess A Number From One To A Million’. (Coincidentally, Brian has his mathematics diploma from Princeton; losers received a free copy of the home game.)
At least he walks away with a few t-shirts. Brian’s friends from the Halo clan 5th Column rallied together to make a few hundred of these shirts in various styles - our pictures show the sick baseball tee with the three-quarter sleeves. The shirts are free promotional items which will be handed out on the West Coast Pain Train “PAXTrain” (the Amtrak “Coast Starlight” route), starting tomorrow, August 27. Just make sure you get a shirt before you go back to playing the Xbox 360 and any other consoles you PAX-goers have hooked up to play on the train.
Brian could storm all five announced rounds and the mysterious sixth game of the Omegathon, or he could get a stroke of poor luck and lose at Peggle in the first round. Even with $5,000 and a trip to TGS on the line, Brian has kept a calm and sunny demeanor. Victory would be nice, but this smart, sweet bunch of gamers is simply happy to be returning for another year at PAX. They are the kind of people who make PAX such a great community weekend.
I’m going to follow some of their exploits and cover a few PAX games for next week, and I hope you’ll tune in as I bring some of this experience home for you!
