E3: PC or rather about the lack of it
By Starling

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

100TH Haiku Fridays Winner!

Posted on Thursday, July 28 @ 10:52:26 Eastern by

Haiku Fridays has always been about free stuff, but in a way, it's always been about working for that free stuff too. As fair as "randomly picking a winner" can be, it's not very much fun for us!

That's the genesis of Haiku Fridays. How can we encourage our readers to be as creative as possible, while also rewarding them for their loyalty and ingenuity? We hope you have as much fun with Haiku Fridays as we do. Until the 200th Haiku Fridays, let's entertain ourselves with some winners!

While DarkPaladinX and seesaw24 raked in several votes a piece, the competition really came down between Merlin and TheNesMan.  Unfortunately, only one haiku-scribe could walk away with our 100th Haiku Fridays grand prize. Merlin pulled ahead early in the voting, but at the end of voting, TheNesMan managed to grab one more vote over Merlin (sorry Merlin, can't vote for yourself!).

Here's TheNesMan's winning Haiku:

Just a small farm boy
Living in the South Hyrule
Took horse anywhere

All four finalists need to send me their names and addresses in order to receive their prizes. I'll have to track down De-Ting to see who won the Tingy award.

Ok, congratulations to all four winners. Congratulations to TheNesMan for pulling out a squeaker by one vote to win the grand prize. Remember no matter who you voted for they still gets a prize.

I feel a little guilty about the fact that I did an unofficial count of votes and I counted Merlin's post as a vote for himself. If I was wrong to do so, I am sorry. Merlin did not try to vote for himself his exact words: “Anyway um I don't think I can vote for myself so good luck to everyone :)” So don’t hate on him, hate on me if you must. Sorry about the baaaad luck Merlin.

See this is why you should listen to the old wise dragon wizard. :P Counting the votes is bad luck :) And no hard feelings it was a honest mistake

also Gratz to NES Man on the contest.

All seriousness, I'm glad that there is still some democracy and bi-partisanship alive and well. Didn't think I'd find it on the internet, but I have. How awesome is it that this was kept clean and professional, no vote mongering, no hate speech. This is so awesome. Another reason why GameRevolution is so awesome!

    Congratulations TheNesMan!

Let us know what you've won so we can all hate you! Just kidding but my thirst for curiosity must be quenched and since I helped you to win I think I deserve to know. =)

One vote difference?? Talk about a close race (sorry Merlin that's gotta suck if only a bit). Congrats to everyone that participated and specially to the four finalists. Now, if only Daniel would tell us what the prizes were...

I like to think of it this way. I came in second on the 100th contest after never posting a single one before. My poem was liked that much and came in that close to taking the top prize. I feel rather honored that everyone voted that much for mine rather then sore that I lost.

    P.S.

I can complain if you want me to :) I'm sure if we put our heads together we could give rise to a flame war of poems in epic proportions.

Actually what I would love to see is which poem the GR staff would of picked. Sort of say a honorable mention as you will.

My haiku skills are only topped by my skillz (notice the z) with the mic.It would have been unfair.

When you have to point out the Z your skillz become less awesome to behold. Your Z should be so awesome that it stands out from the crowd for all to gaze upon in its glory and know they are not worthy of your skillz.
