Yesterday, while cleaning up my media center, I found my copy of Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus, which I bought sometime before Christmas last year. I had been pretty excited about this game pre-release, what with it being the first "traditional", albeit shorter than usual,...

DAILY MANIFESTO

2014 Is Undoubtedly the Year of Yoshi

Posted on Wednesday, February 26 @ 15:00:00 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

When Luigi's time in the spotlight comes to a close on March 18th, Nintendo will likely push another one of its mascots onto center stage, and my intuition tells me it's Yoshi. Why? Oh, let me count the reasons...

First of all, we've got two new titles staring the lovable dino currently in the works. The first is Yoshi's New Island, which will be releasing mid-March on 3DS, right around the same time "The Year of Luigi" officially ends. Suspicious, no?

Then there's Yarn Yoshi, details of which have been scarce, but is currently in development for Wii U. Seeing as how Nintendo's tablet-focused console is hurting for software, there's a good chance we'll be playing it before 2014 comes to a close.

Finally, we can't forget that Yoshi still has not yet been confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS. Why hold off on announcing such an obvious character this long? My suspicion is that Nintendo has been waiting to announce his inclusion just in time for the launch of Yoshi's New Island, marking the "big" reveal as the beginning of "The Year of Yoshi." Throw in a little Yarn Yoshi footage at the same time and you've got all the ingredients for a Yoshi-palooza.

I rest my case.
