Activision Wants Take-Two

Posted on Friday, February 11 @ 11:27:14 Eastern by danielrbischoff

Activision already made headlines this week by canceling the next Guitar Hero game and laying off hundreds across its wide selection of developers. There's got to be a reason for all the bloodshed!

Rumors are now circling that Take-Two Interactive may be the apple of Activision's eye. Buying up Take-Two would put Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Irrational Games and World of Warcraft together under the same house. Severing ties with the dwindling Hero franchise might have made room, but could Activision really afford Take-Two?

Of course, it isn't necessary for Activision to grow any larger, just like it wasn't necessary for Blizzard to join forces with the publisher. Buying up Take-Two would further strengthen Activision against rival publisher Electronic Arts through the acquisition of 2K's sports franchises.

Take Two won't sell, if they were going to they would have sold to EA just before GTA4 came out. They like being a company where they don't have some giant looming boss over them

@Lethean: I kind of get the news up and then look at it afterwards. It's all about being first in this business... although we hate in in the comments.
