Best Buy Trolls GameStop

We understand that Best Buy and GameStop are always at each other's throats over ~~being a video game pawn shop~~ pre-owned games. My ex-GameStop roommate says that GameStop will even have a 50% trade-in bonus for games if and only if they're close to a Best Buy. Just to piss them off.

But this might be taking a bit too far... though I'm all for retailer "drams". Of course, it could be Photoshopped; the fonts on the banner look like they're from MS Paint. (Click image to see full size.)

My thoughts exactly.

I find it strange though, that given the excellent opportunity, they didn't put the banner on top of GameStop's logo.

Meh, this kind of tactics makes me not want to shop at Best Buy. Guess what? We are trying to screw over more than just Gamestop.

Not at the moment, but just wait until Best Buy starts asking if you want to pre-order a new digital camera, and asking if you want to join their Best Bud discount card program super special reach-around with free (paid) 1 year subscription to Software Informant.

so if i buy a used game from BestBuy, go to GameStop, get a %50 trade in bonus, then go back to BestBuy do a trade in there, then back to GameStop, trade in, back to BestBuy, trade in again, then back to GameStop and trade it... does that mean i'll walk away with super powers? or just the headache i've given myself now?

What is so bad about this? It doesn't mention GameStop, and it is advertising a great now service. So it happens to be next to a GameStop, this is 100% capitalism and will encourage every better deals at GameStop and more freedom to consumers.

Saw a Best Buy advertisement on the massive signpost in front of a Future Shop... Future Shop was too lazy/cheap to pay to put an add there, which I'm sure they got first crack at seeing as how it's on their property. And I laughed.
