Black Ops Customization Let's You Etch Dirty Words Into Your Gun

The latest trailer for Black Ops' multiplayer modes gives you an idea of what exactly you'll be able to do in customizing your character. Horse with guns for hooves anyone?
Okay, that's a huge step up from the original CoD system. It definitely will add some fun to multiplayer, but there's still a lot to be desired. How many of those guns are actually going to be good? When will you ever want blue camo? And my favorite, how will any of this matter if you just lag every time you start shooting?
But I'm still excited to see deep customization options. It might be possible, however, that they'll over-complicate things and it'll turn out to be a ***-fest like MW2. Sometimes simplicity is a lot more fun, even in hardcore games.
Even if the game is totally frustrating, the system they've introduced could be inspirational to other game developers.
It does, even if just slightly. The only time it doesn't lag is when you're the host. Other games use methods of compensating for lag, but CoD does not, in any way, shape, or form. Heck, sometimes I start lagging out like the game is about to disconnect, but then a few moments later, I'll be dead, knifed by the host.
CoD has the most extreme problem with lag I've seen in online multiplayer, and that's the point I'm trying to make.
Additionally, my roommate plays CoD online a lot, and if there is lag when shooting, I can't see it. He goes like 27-13, and that's from being good at the game. He knows where the hide, how to travel the maps without getting flanked, and has good weapon/perk load outs. If it lags, even just slightly, it certainly doesn't show, and that's on our the crappy dorm connection. If you are lagging that bad, it's either your internet connection, or PSN. And since CoD is relatively popular on PSN, that narrows it down.

Is not a "small amount of lag." If you think online gaming can be done without a small amount of lag in today's internet infrastructure you are either insane or ignorant. There is physical travel time based on mileage band that cannot be eliminated.
Perhaps you should clarify what you mean by a "small amount of lag."
@BelgianROFLs: I mean, I'm watching killcams and someone is aiming down the sights behind me and i'm still getting killed. that's a bit more lag than the mileage would account for
and frankly, i'm in san jose, CA. I'm in an area where there is undoubtedly a ton of people online playing whatever game at whatever hour on whatever day. the mileage cannot be that great. if i was playing against people on the east coast, ok, other countries, definitely, but anywhere from colorado to california, there can't be that much lag based on mileage alone.
let me be clear in saying that it doesn't break the game in any way for me. I continue to play, but De-Ting is not completely wrong when he says there's lag. of course, i don't think he's completely right either. based on what you quoted, there's something wrong with his connection, not the game.
@danielrbischoff, out of curiosity, are you playing on PS3, 360, or PC? Are you connected wired or wirelessly? I've never seen lag when I shoot on the 360 or PS3. I've also not noticed it in videos of gameplay online.
As I said before , Mass Effect is an incredible universe. ME1, 2 and 3 focused on Shepard’s tale but set the scene for books and graphic novels to complement that story arc and chronicle the stories of other characters such as Anderson, and the Illusive Man whose adventures feed into the events we have already played through. It’s testament to BioWare’s creation that the tapestry is so rich that even after the main plot and the complimentary plots are taken care of there is... read more...

If CoD lagged everytime you started shooting, how the hell would it have the consistent millions of players that it does?

Host advantage is present in almost any game done without dedicated servers. To say a game has "no form" of lag compensation is beyond ignorant.
Honestly, I think you're just making up excuses.
Including this statement. Cheers.
Commence ganging up on me!
Run away De-Ting!
