Blizzformers: Hackers In Disguise

Posted on Monday, August 6 @ 21:55:11 Eastern by Duke_Ferris
Some security concerns and a wonky DSL forced us to sober up today and get some boring stuff done.

AT&T spent half the day here working on our connection, forcing us to steal from the neighbor's wireless internet. Josh, I don't know who you are, you probably work on the second floor, but thanks for not securing your router. The RIAA would like to have a word with you.

A cameo appearance was also made by server security expert gun-for-hire Steve (if that is his real name), who spent the day tightening virtual bolts, lashing down electrons and otherwise closing doors that were (embarrassingly) open. Note: XYZ - PDQ. If the hackers over at Defcon 15 can nab an undercover Dateline NBC reporter with a camera in her purse, they can also probably eat our web servers as a light snack. At least it wasn't Chris Mathews.

Anyway, to leave on a lighter note, I didn't send anyone to Blizzcon this year (don't cry, Mike). But next year we should at least get some video. The costume contest is getting out of control, and I mean that in a good way.
