Community Choice! Game of the Year Semi-Final Round 1: Batman Versus Battlefield

Posted on Thursday, December 15 @ 18:07:39 Eastern by
You guys know how this goes! GameRevolution will be publishing our Game of the Year picks soon and your nominations in each category will be called out in each of those post.

But enough about us! We want to let the world know what the GameRevolution community thinks! That's why we're going to tournament style our way down to one game to rule them all. Your nominations for Game of the Year will enter and only one will leave... maybe a little bruised, a little beaten, but all the better for it. Let's get to it with the second round!

Batman: Arkham City

From StickyGreenGamer's Member Review:

Batman: Arkham City is a solid game, likely to eat a good chunk of your life. It is fun and enveloping, with a great story powering it along, and does an excellent job of actually putting you into Batman's shoes. It is such a vast improvement on its predecessor that it is nearly unbelievable, and I wouldn't be surprised to see this game in discussion for "Game of the Decade" in 8-9 years. This game, should be the benchmark to which all other sequels are held, for a long, long time.

VS

Battlefield 3

From Ivory_Souls's Member Review:

Battlefield 3 may not deliver a riveting single player, but the new engine, and excellent multiplayer will keep you hooked. You can also jump in for a co-op campaign ride, but you will come back for the multiplayer thanks to the, slow, yet steady unlocks which make you feel like you truly earned them.

If we got 6 rounds, and then we go to semis... it means there are only 6 games in semis, instead of 4, and then there will be 3 games in the finals, instead of 2.

I'm utterly confused, my wisdom isn't enough to figure out how this works. This reality is truly beyond me.

Sounds like you are the opposite of confused, given that you just figured everything out.

Damn it. Can we just skip all the voting and make it Battlefield 3 vs. Skyrim? Then actually skip that as well and make the GOTY, Skyrim. Everyone on here has nerded out over Skyrim, posting 6-7 videos on how to play with (rather silly) commentary.

Just vote in the forums and see if the GR community views with you or not. Why do you think they do this? To make the games think their special... No that's the final rounds job.

Since I was late to this party, I don't know if this contest was open only to console games. Were Ocarina 3D, Mario Kart 7 or Super Mario Land 3D, for example, not worthy enough to be considered games of the year?
