Grid 2 surprised me. I was going through the motions, getting used to the cars and their handling, when suddenly something happened. I started having fun.

State of Decay Review
Undead Lab's zombie-infested action title has finally hit XBLA. Is it worth a few of your precious Microsoft Points, or should you whack it over the head with a two-by-four and continue on your merry way?

E3: PC or rather about the lack of it

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Community Choice! Game of the Year Semi-Final Round 2: L.A. Noire Versus Dark Souls

Posted on Friday, December 16 @ 17:59:58 Eastern by
You guys know how this goes! GameRevolution will be publishing our Game of the Year picks soon and your nominations in each category will be called out in each of those post.

But enough about us! We want to let the world know what the GameRevolution community thinks! That's why we're going to tournament style our way down to one game to rule them all. Your nominations for Game of the Year will enter and only one will leave... maybe a little bruised, a little beaten, but all the better for it. Let's get to it with the second round!

Dark Souls

From GameRevolution's Review:

Why do we so readily submit ourselves to the torturous wretches this industry dreams up? Why do we take on impossibilities as if they were surmountable challenges? There's a healthy balance to games like From Software's Dark Souls. You risk your time, your energy, your sanity all for that sweet, brief taste of victory.

VS

L.A. Noire

From UghRochester's Member Review:

This is by far one best games I’ve ever seen from Rockstar. Rockstar’s new approach maybe a little bold, but man you got to love it. Again, their MotionScan is incredibly well done. Being able to actually interrogate people was so realistic. Luckily, Rockstar gave L.A. Noire an amazing cast. This game deserve its A-.

Dan, I started following these showdowns a bit late. I want to know if this contest was open only to console games, and if so why? Were games like Ocarina 3D, Super Mario Land 3D or Mario Kart 7 not good enough to be contenders?

The community game of the year showdown is based solely on nominations from the community (which were held in the forums). Super Mario 3D Land is actually in the running for GameRevolution's staff Game of the Year award.

I had originally planned on doing quick showdowns for individual categories as well, but instead community nominations will get "honorable mentions" in the GameRev GotY categories.

Because those game have already been played. Ocarina, 1998. SML3D, was basically SM64, 1996. and Mario Kart 7 was well... the other eight did that. You can't be game of the year if its been done before. They deserve nods for being fun to play but, as for being game of the year... simply no. They are not contenders.

Super Mario 3D Land is NOT like Super Mario 64 at all.

So...I'm creating hundreds if not thousands of Gmail accounts in order to create accounts on GR, just to skew the results of the voting. Am I kidding?
