Custom Mortal Kombat Arcade Cabinet Is a Flawless Victory

Posted on Monday, July 11 @ 07:54:59 Eastern by

This custom-made Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet is so awesome... I'm speechless. I'll do my very best to muster up enough mental clarity to explain what this is.

Hyperspin-fe user, BadBoyBill, a long time fan of Mortal Kombat and arcade cabinets, took it upon himself to do what NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. didn't do, create a custom arcade cabinet for the new Mortal Kombat.

The entire project took him a "month" of "spare time". The cabinet itself is equipped with a 42" 1080p monitor, 2 amps, a 10" sub-woofer, and a pair of left and right speakers. It's running on an Xbox 360 set to boot straight to game and is played with 2 Limited Edition PDP Mortal Kombat Arcade Fight Sticks.

I am totally fucking jealous of this.

Now do those coin doodads actually work? Did he program the game to not allow play without inserting money? Or is that just for the cosmetic appeal of the arcade cabinet?

Why do people love the 360 version of MK so much? Personally I'd want to put quarters down on a machine that can play with Kratos too.

That's the same thing I thought too. Why go to all the trouble if you're just going to use the inferior version?

Sure, he's got the awesome cabinet and stuff, but I can play it with a controller on my 47 inch tv and still have the more complete experience.

    PS3 D-Pad all the way. I can't play fighters on the 360.
