Did Konami Ruin the Voice Acting in Silent Hill 2?

Youtube user Wilczuch has spliced the voice-acting performances from Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill HD Collection for easy comparison, and the difference between them is stark, so stark in fact that the overwhelming majority of fans are calling bullshit on Konami.

Sure, it's easy to call blasphemy on anything that changes what you love, but for some fans, the swap in voice actors is far too severe, with some saying that the dubbing is atrocious, that Mary and Maria sound like gay men, and that this just more evidence that Konami hates Silent Hill. Others say that this is just a bunch of cry-baby whining. And yet others are calling both voice acting jobs terrible.

Does anyone think the new voice acting is better?

    The voices just sound older to me.

    I'm not entirely sure, but I think that first and second lady might be voiced by Matoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell. Professional voice actress. Fat dude sounds grittier, and less happy-insane. James sounds a bit more intense. I think they're all improvements.

    I think you are right. She did vocals for several songs from the silent hill series, so I guess it isn't much of a stretch.

    I used to watch a lot of English dubbed Kung-Fu movies, and that is what this video reminds me of.
