I left the event very impressed. They're doing a lot right. Much better than last generation.

I had that impression too. They noticed what market they were missing and decided to lock on it. I'm pretty sure every mom will buy their son the Wii U Regardless of how they advertise it, so locking in a solid deal with platinum games and capcom is a sure way to get some good early sales of the system.

Yeah lots of stuff to look forward to on the console right now. Hopefully the next year manages to avoid the massive deadzone the Vita and 3DS saw in their first year to market.

The Deluxe edition for $50 more seems to be the much better value.

Agreed. It's kind of hard to justify picking up the Basic when it's only $50 cheaper.

You never know how much proprietary memory is going to cost. Definitely going with the 32GB myself.

If you are buying the premium edition for just the increased memory you are making a mistake. You can add as much memory as you want in external hard drive for cheaper than $50. It's still the better deal because of the other editions (and black is much cooler right?) but it's not because of the increased memory.

That's true! I forgot it supports all that USB storage. Let's hope it stays open like that.

I don't know yet. I'm still not sold. GR is going to have to post a pretty solid review before I shell out my kinda' hard-earned cash.

Oh we will! We're hoping to nail down an early review unit, but we might have to wait until launch to get our hands on hardware we can review.

Super excited about the Wii U release; however, I'm a little skeptical about the launch titles... I might hold off on breaking the seal of my deluxe pre-order to see what ebay/re-sell prices look like. Regardless, I will own a Wii U of my own at some point in time :)
