Fallout: New Vegas Modders Massively Tweak Gameplay

Mods for Bethesda games come and go, but they never hesitate to alter gameplay, add to the world, and generally improve on the shipped product.

Ever since Fallout: New Vegas landed, I thought things were a little quiet on the mod front, but one team has whipped up something really special for those of you looking to spice up your experience on the PC.

Project Nevada adds several new aspects to Obsidian's take on the Fallout 3 engine. Bullet time, sprinting, tackling... cybernetic implants! Oh my!

One of the less enticing changes in this pack are the visor overlays that appear when your character is wearing goggles or a helmet. Of course, Project Nevada also allows you to change your visual filter, including tactical filters like heat mapping and night vision.

Probably the biggest improvement, in terms of gameplay, is the variable cross hair that shows the spread of your bullets. When you combine bullet time and the ability to sprint and tackle opponents, that's a big mix up in your normal Fallout combat scheme.

All of these player-character enhancements are explained through an in-game cybernetics menu that allows you to choose your abilities. You can see all of these changes in action below and then check out Project Nevada's official thread at the Fallout forums.

Visor and helmet overlays actually sound like one of the cooler features to me. One of my favorite things about Metro 2033 was the fact that wearing night vision goggles was almost as horrible as wearing them in real life.

Looks cool. I definitely like Fallout 3 more than New Vegas, though. Everything is so much of a hassle, they just made it harder to get the character you want, and starting out is really, really hard.
