French Gamer Stabs Player In Revenge

Counter-Strike player Julien Barreaux stabbed a victim, identified only as Mikhael, in real life "to see his rival wiped out for killing off his character".


For seven months, the 20-year old plotted his revenge and finally tracked his online killer, who lived only a "few miles" from Barreaux. After Mikhael opened the door, Barreaux plunged a kitchen knife into Mikhael's chest less than an inch away from his heart. Despite him making a quick escape, police arrested him within the hour.

Barreaux has been sentenced to (only) two years in jail for Grievous Bodily Harm and will be undergoing psychiatric tests and anger management classes. Judge Alexiane Potel called him a "menace to society" and stated, "I am frankly terrified of the disproportionate reaction you could have if someone looked at you the wrong way in the street." Whatever it is, Potel, I suggest you stay from sharp objects for the next seven months.

    You sure it's Counter-Strike? I thought dying in that game isn't a big deal compared to MMOs and Diablo 2's hardcore mode. Unless this Julien guy is a perfectionist and overreacted when he got killed.

    Why couldn't he just settle this like a real French man and had a baguette duel with him?

    Apparently David Belle is the only good french free runner left? heh ... a 'menace to society' ... you forgot the words "over populated" in front of "society" which is falling apart because of smarter people than this dumb ****. 2 years in prison? Who pays for that? How about a 50 cent lead round to the dome. His fictional life is already over, and that's all he had. Put him out of his misery. (No I don't think that's too harsh. He's the one that knifed somebody over a round of counter strike. This level of disillusionment? or ... whatever - is not something to be reasoned with. End the gene pool that spawned this fool. Cut it now before it sullys up human evolution any further.
