LATEST FEATURESBeing A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.
Before Microsoft and Sony do something regarding their future in the video game business, I wanted to write, and I've wanted it for a long time now, but other things kept getting in my way, and fearing that tomorrow might be too late, today will have to do.

We are not far away from the days when a retinal scan and speech recognition will be necessary to use your console along with fingerprint checking to use your controller. You know, just one user per console AND per controller. Maybe the Kinect was the first step towards that.
It sounds like Paul Gale is the Dwight Schrute of the video game industry. I think that most, if not all, of these next-gen console rumors are going to turn out to be untrue. The one about them not playing used games especially sounds like it was planted by a wishful developer. While it would kill GameStop, I don't think that a new reality of no used console games would hurt the developers or manufacturers. They currently get nothing from the secondary market, and I think the bad will and hatred from gamers would be very short lived (we are addicts after all).
Although some might be addicts and most might be able to adapt to the circumstances, the bottom line is that unless you start selling your body for sex or become a sperm donor (how much does that pay?) if you don't have the money you just don't. Sure you might still be able to buy games occasionally but not as often as if you were buying used ones. Say I buy two new games a year plus 10 used ones, and from that I go to just buying 4 new games a year and no used ones. I'll probably become less of a gamer forcibly (there are other hobbies after all as well as older consoles), just a couple of extra games are being sold and I just might lose interest in video games over time. But you know who might get hurt? Gamestop employees (among others), they too are human beings after all and they do need that income as much or even more than developers or manufacturers.
