You misinterpreted me. I wasn't saying I want a bunch of garbage consoles on the market. Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft have got that covered. I want more companies with actually good ideas to finally step it up and try to put the big three in their place. The next-gen consoles look too uninspired for me to think otherwise.
Hmm, no. Maybe I'll be wrong, and I'd even welcome it, but if you can't see the state of disarray the console market is in right now, well...ignorance is bliss.
Then share with us your wisdom that no other game developer in the world has been able to stumble across... Why are the consoles so bad and what will it take to fix them? I have a PC, 360, and a 3DS, and I love all 3. If you think the only reason someone likes consoles you dont is because they're ignorant I'd advise you to step down off that high horse and join the rest if us. If ignorance is bliss, delusions of grandeur must be paradise.
Good listen. Ouya is stupid. good name on the podcast :) Steambox really I think is to compete with consoles not so much peoples PCs. Also as long as they keep up steam sales on it I think it will be immensely popular. Everyone loves not having to shell out 60 bones for a good video game.
Haha, Anthony is rubbing off on Alex! Anyways, I f*cked up my comment, which my New Year's resolution is to read over before posting. You see, I'm constantly restless. I'll type something and leave out words accidentally.
Nintendo is going to have to come out with some absolutely amazing games within the next year for anyone to care about the Wii U when it's sitting next to the Xbox 720 & PS4 on store shelves. Whichever console maker gets their **** together the most and starts pushing out first-party exclusives again will have a major advantage over the others. Also, did someone's microwave go off in the background?
The first-party titles need to come out of the wood work fast. I'd be willing to bet there's a Mario game ready for this holiday season, but they need the full force of their character library for this holiday.
The one thing that might save Nintendo is, as history has shown time and time, if developers cater to the least common denominator thus programming their games for the console with the head start (that would be Nintendo) and then porting them to the other two. Then again, the Wii U could once again end up as the console "where you can get your Mario, Zelda and Metroid fix" but while that might have been more than enough 7 years ago somehow I don't think their first-party portfolio appeals to today's gamer as much (except maybe to old-schoolers).
