GameRevolution Roundtable: Star Wars: The Old Republic

Posted on Tuesday, January 10 @ 20:28:53 Eastern by

I'm not as versed in massively multiplayer online games as my two guest hosts are. This week I'm joined by Josh Laddin and Jonathan Leack, masters of the force... or the dark side... or something. Listen to them talk about lots of technical stuff while I'm... more quiet because... honestly I'm learning stuff. Shhhh... I'm but a padawan.

Finally an MMORPG worth gathering around and talking about. I'm curious how people will feel about SWTOR after the first month passes, and early adopters have to begin paying the monthly fees.

Heh, yeah I'm curious about that too. I actually already have a level 50 Bounty Hunter. Loved the game all the way up to the end. But now that I've finished my class story, I'm not really sure if I'm that motivated to continue the character. I mean, the story has concluded, and I am satisfied for the moment with that conclusion. I'm starting up a Jedi Knight now (because how can I NOT enjoy having Solid Snake voice my character?) and I'm enjoying that too. But once I've done 1 Republic and 1 Empire, I'm not sure I'd want to do it again (similar non class quests) and I'm not sure if I'm really interested in the progression beyond the class stories.

So I guess, what I'm curious about, less the timing of the monthly fee, and more how many people will continue playing after maxing a character.

Seems like every class is voiced by someone famous. Bounty hunter was the voice of Duke Nukem btw. I think someone is even voiced by Bender.

Loved it. You guys should do this more. Makes me want the game more, but I've got like a 5 year old PC and probably can't run it after hearing this. :(

Enjoyed the discussion tremendously. I'm still very much on the fence for this game, have a few friends playing which would make it more enjoyable, but dread the gear treadmill and was also bored with the combat system.
