After all these years, and growing up with Windows 3.1, I have seen an entire evolution of computers and software. Touch screens and large resolutions were a pipe dream just 15 years ago. Now it's the norm. Going from a Packard Bell (yes, before HP) that couldn't run 3D Ultra Mini...

Go Team!

I'm so pleased with the response to Team GR in the Folding@Home program, I've bought another PS3 for the office and dedicated it 24/7 to nothing but medical research.

One of the great things about being the boss is that I get to do whatever I want. When my short article on the PS3 and protein folding got such a positive response last week, and our folding team started zooming up the charts, I decided to bring in a ringer. No games for this bad boy, no music, no Blu-ray movies... nothing but folding.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, give this a quick read.

In just six days, Team GR has zoomed past over 56,000 other teams to #9715. Awesome progress, and I'm hoping in another week to crack the top 1000 teams. The PC overclockers have a huge head start on us (six years!), but I know we can catch up.

To join Team GR and help out, you just need the team number - 72437. To install the folding client on your PC, just got to the Folding@Home website and download it. On your PS3, if you've updated to system 1.6 or later, you'll find the folding program under the network column. Enable it and join Team GR, or another team, or just let it run for yourself.

Remember folks, the points don't give us anything but pride. This one is for science. Now I just need to find a little white lab coat for Dr. PS3.
