Going Postal on 9/11
Posted on Thursday, April 12 @ 16:07:16 Eastern by Duke_FerrisWhen you set out to make the world's most offensive movie, it only makes sense to hire the world's most offensive person, Ewe Boll.
So a lot of people are getting upset that he makes at least one 9/11joke in his upcoming Postal movie, loosely based on the gratuitous Postal video game (see trailer). What is surprising is that he is apparently responding to random bloggers with bizarre email rants justifying himself.
Dear Mr. Dunbeck,
What a jerk. Excuse me, I meant Doctor jerk. That he would compare his upcoming gross-out-fest to Life of Brian, a brilliantly insightful and hilarious film about religion, is just ludicrous.
Let me make this clear - I was there in New York that morning on 9/11/2001, and I saw the towers fall. With a T-shirt tied around my face, choking on the dust and debris and the who-knows-what of the collapsed buildings, I could barely see. My sinuses hurt for weeks afterwards. I opened our doors and let anyone use our computers and printers for free so they could print missing person signs or contact loved ones over the internet.
And I'm not offended.
Because I agree with him that in a society that enjoys, protects and respects free speech, somebody has to do it first. And I'm glad it's an asshole like Uwe Boll.
