DAILY MANIFESTO

GR Release Round-Up

Posted on Friday, November 5 @ 20:02:01 Eastern by
Soooo... next week... Kinda slow... 'cept for... this game where you shoot people. You know the one.

Yes, that's right, Call of Duty: Black Ops is coming out on Tuesday, Monday at midnight for you dedicated dutiers. Seems like a lot of releases sort of cleared the way for Activision's big blockbuster. Love 'em or hate 'em, Activision sure know how to market a game. This week was all about Kinect. We know what people are going to be playing next week, but what else is coming out?
Seems like a relatively slow week aside from Black Ops, but there are a handful of interesting titles out there. I've had my eye on FlingSmash, which is bundled with a new Wii Remote Plus. Of course with no Wii, I'll just be imagining myself playing it with the included controller.

Look, nobody likes Activision and Treyarch is the bench squad that gets to go on the court once the game has been all wrapped in a massive lead. Still, Black Ops is probably the most effort they've put into any title before, not to mention the fact that it isn't set in World War II (thank God). Besides, from lurking around in the forums, I can tell I'm not the only one looking forward to Tuesday. I've gotten 1000 achievement points out of Modern Warfare 2, I've got a stack of games ready to be traded in, and I have a weekend full of review-writing, work, and no time for video games. I'm ready to dive right in to some more multiplayer. Black Ops is GR's Pick of the Week.

If you're not in the forums, why don't you share your PSN ID, gamertag, friend... code. OK, at least you can share your PSN and gamertag in the comments. Here's my profile page at Xbox.com. Add me and we'll play a few rounds of demolition (that's my gametype. If you want, you can buy me a PS3 and I'll play the game with you on that platform.
