The long-awaited racer finally nears the finish line.![]() Early last month, the PlayStation community was stunned to find out that the much-anticipated racing sim, Gran Turismo 5, would suddenly hit the brakes, missing its scheduled release date of November 2. Sony left a release date open-ended, only promising that it would be out before the holidays. With fans in an uproar, Polyphony Digital head and father of Gran Turismo Kazunori Yamauchi has just soothed the masses with a very promising statement: "The discs are being stamped as we speak." Gran Turismo is the best-selling racing franchise of all-time, selling over 55 million units to date. The latest installement's release is vital for Sony's PlayStation 3, which without GT5 would lack a major blockbuster exclusive during the holiday season. LittleBigPlanet 2, which was also set to release this holiday season, was delayed into 2011. [Source] Comments
