Gran Turismo Creator Wants to do Something Else

Posted on Tuesday, November 23 @ 13:33:53 Eastern by Blake_Morse
Even though he's already admitted that he's working on Gran Turismo 6, head of Polyphony, Kazunori Yamauchi recently stated he'd like to try his hand at making something that isn't the world's most popular racing game.

“I certainly have ideas for new games all the time... Every day. I really, really would love to try making some other type of game."

Gran Turismo might just have become my life. Making Gran Turismo is a lot of fun, really, though maybe I've missed out on a lot of things by working so hard on Gran Turismo.”

"There are certainly a lot of great games being made out there, like LittleBigPlanet or Killzone 2. Games that I can just tell from one look ‘Oh, wow, so this is what they're doing with games these days’. They're really making some great stuff."

A LittleBigPlanet game would make sense when you consider all the customization options found the Gran Turismo series, but I'm always interested in seeing developers tackle something outside their comfort zone.

I wonder how many weapons Yamauchi would stick into a FPS?

Maybe he could make a feature where you can buy different weapons from different manufacturers around the world, and you could get discounts and upgrades on different makes when you kill enough dudes with em...

Glad to hear he wants to do something different, though.
