How have we not talked about this yet GR? He sure took forever, but Duke (Nukem) is back! DNF was in gamers hands this weekend at PAX!

Previous rumors surrounding Gearbox Software picking up the fabled franchise from the defunct 3DRealms turned out to be true this weekend, as PAX PRIME attendees got a chance to go hands on with the beginning of the game. There are tons of off-screen gameplay clips out there, but we're hoping Blake will bring back some substantial impressions.

With Gearbox head Randy Pitchford getting his start at 3DRealms on Duke Nukem 3D, could the long unseen game be in the best possible hands now? You can read the full release on GR right here.

I don't quite understand why Gearbox would want to associate itself with DNF. I mean, I think it would be better if they just made a Duke Nukem game under a different title. The game has been in development, if you can call it that, for some 13 years now, and I just don't understand why anyone would want to take credit right at the end. It could end up being a great game, but I'm sure there will be people out wondering why it took 14 years come 2011 to make what will surely be a relatively standard FPS, albeit with more strippers and one liners. Besides, I've always felt that Duke Nukem was more of a collection of sound bites than a beloved gaming franchise, especially considering the biggest games in the series were DN3D, DN3D for consoles, DN3D for xbox live arcade, and DN3D for the iphone.

Honestly, I just want to see it. There really is something that has been attached to that name over the past decade-plus that brings a kind of... mystique. It's a mystery. Will it be actually good? Are there really inventive, game-changing ideas throughout? Will the strippers show the scars from their boob jobs when they flash their pasties?

THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO KNOW.

will i be able to play 2 girls 1 cup with the strippers?! I NEED TO KNOW IF I WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY 2 GIRLS 1 CUP WITH THE STRIPPERS!

the only thing im concerned about is if gearbox will be worried about there name being associated with what (SHOULD) be a very dirty dirty game. i hope they don't tone it down for there own sake.
