Halo: Reach Full Game Leaked

Posted on Friday, August 20 @ 13:01:46 Eastern by

Microsoft, you did know that putting Halo: Reach up on the public Xbox Live Marketplace was a very, very, very bad idea, right?

I know you meant for Halo: Reach to be downloadable only by reviewers who have a special 25-character code and that the 99999MS Points price tag would deter most people from attempting to purchase the game or possibly hack through. But, of course, Microsoft, you thought wrong.

Modders from Game-tut.com have apparently tricked your servers and have gained access to the game. The game's files have also been leaked elsewhere. May Master Chief shake his head in shame.

If someone were to actually shell out the $1250 and buy it legitimately, a month before its release date, is there anything Microsoft could do about it, legally, to prevent them from playing the game or something?

who cares klandathu? They can't stop them since its public domain now, and they have no one to blame but themselves for this.

All in all though, how much more different will this really be from the last 4 games? Don't get me wrong - I love the Halo series for its rich, deep characters and settings, but it just seems that microsoft is just trying to cash in, once again, on a tried and true formula instead of putting their efforts to better use.

Reach was supposed to be Bungie's last big show for the Halo franchise. I think they wanted to go out with a bang. This is like going out with a lawl. You would think there would be an easier way for reviews to get access to the game.

Those idiots. Why would they put this game on a public server BEFORE it's release date!? I hate piracy with a passion, but MS practically begged pirates to take this game.

Is it really piracy when Microsoft kinda just handed it to everyone? I mean, sorta, but come on, they have some smart people over there, it wouldn't take a whole lot of foresight to figure out that something like this would happen.

No madster. I don't think people would pay over 1,000 U.S. dollars for a game that's going to release in less than a month.

    Still, Microsoft...you're retarded.

@madster111 and Klandathu: Even if you have the MS points to purchase the game, you still need the 25-character code that (apparently) certain reviewers received. But it still doesn't change how stupid Microsoft is.

I'm still pissed at MS for closing Ensamble Studios. I love Halo Wars, and I really wanted a sequal.

@UghRochester: You don't think there are people crazy enough to spend that kinda money? When the PS2 first came out, and cost something ridiculous like $600 (in Canada), I knew a guy who stood in line all night, bought 2, and smashed one of them in front of the store as soon as he walked out, just to piss off everyone in line. Its hilarious, and he's a prick, but it goes to show... stupid f*ckin' people have money too. :P

It's a good thing that IDIOT didn't pull that PS2 trick in my city. He would have been beaten to a bloody pulp by the crowd!

    Matt,
No doubt, the people in line at my Best Buy were hostile. Mighta killed him.
